Death at D36 (pg. 2)

I was there Friday since my friend was playing in the basement. As soon as I saw the crowd that was there, I knew someone was going to get beat up. You could just feel it if you looked at one of these asians the wrong way. We left around 1:45am so we didn't run into the accident later on in the night. I went upstairs twice to get a drink and while waiting for drinks, the ty dj played the same song like 3x. He would stop tracks and just hit play midway lol. For the first few hours of the night everyone stood around the dance floor like a high school prom. Like I said, I was only there to support my friend spinning but I don't recommend these Friday parties at all no matter who is spinning.

Looks like he beat up himself.

Not to go off subject, but do people know how to correctly define a rave anymore? Sheesh.

Anywho, sad news. U never want to hear about someone so young passing :(

holy . I dont necessarily believe he "fell" off the balcony. I suspect foul play somewhere.. but With the constant 2 cents of how he recently broke up with his long term girlfriend, are they trying to point to a suicide? Poor guy, what a shame he was so young.

sorry about the respost my bad, out of respect for what reen teen teen posted i am reposting his post here along with my post

...

what confuses me is how he got on the street, if a staff member or members did pick him up and place him in the street then they should be held criminally responsible. you do not move a person with tramatic injurys, that is what the emt is for...

27-year-old partygoer died early Saturday after he tumbled over the balcony of a sleek midtown club and was dumped on the sidewalk outside, police sources said.

A waitress found a bleeding and bruised Michael Lin slouched on the stairs near a second-floor entrance inside club District 36 on W. 36th St. near Fifth Ave. about 3 a.m., the sources said.

The Queens resident, who was bleeding from his mouth and missing several teeth, was then moved by staff outside the posh club, where police found him a few minutes later, sources said.

A team of EMTs rushed the injured man to Bellevue Hospital, where he died more than an hour later.

Lin’s body appeared bruised and his jaw broken, sources said. The injuries are consistent with a fall, they added, but cops are still looking into whether any foul play was involved.

An initial review of grainy surveillance footage from the club and interviews with employees did not turn up any evidence that there had been any fights or violence, sources said.

The city’s medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

Lin, of Flushing, recently broke up with his girlfriend of two years and went to the club with a friend, his roommate said.

“He asked me to go out with him last night,” said his roommate and longtime friend, William Wong, 29. “He said he was going to the party.”

Wong declined, but Lin — who worked as a welder for his uncle — found another pal to take out on the town.

“He was just a fun guy,” Wong said.

“He’s a really nice guy. He always helps me out. … He was a good kid.”

Clubgoer Savannah Pierce was planning to hit the Koreatown hotspot Saturday night, but the party was moved to another venue.

“I’ve never seen anyone fight here before,” she said. “Everyone is always so happy-go-lucky.”

She described the club as “a rave scene. A lot of light shows, a lot of big deejays.”

The venue is a former clothing factory, according to the club’s website, where interior photos show a flashy dance floor that’s dazzling with colorful stage light special effects.

Surrounded by cheap clothing boutiques, there’s also a ballroom dance studio above District 36.

There were no arrests as of Saturday night as police continued to investigate the incident.

This kind of news makes me really sad. Seen a lot of crazy in my day at clubs - seizures, blood oozing from mouths and noses, etc etc, even spent a good amount of hours in the ER with some friends in the past. To think that possibly people just left him to die and not give a crap is heartbreaking in itself. I wonder what his friends did when they realized he was missing.

After reading some of these articles I see some inconsistencies. If they say they reviewed surveillance which showed no evidence of a fight.... was there any evidence of a fall?

It's not like they can have surveillance everywhere either, like say the bathroom perhaps. This situation definitely doesn't feel right.

If the man was bleeding profusely as they say how could whoever escorted him outside not see that. They should have began investigating immediately and taken the matter more seriously.

The latest reports indicate that he drunkenly fell down stairs of an emergency exit. They are also backtracking on comments that staff moved him outside. D36 should sue the papers and the kid that died for dragging the club through the mud.

there's 3 sides to every story...
side A, side B and the truth
i would say wait until everything comes out, as z stated the investigateing of this case is def fishy and was not done properly imo

but for you to say sue the kid who died? i dunno where you can get that idea from thats just really ed up to say

Michael Lin (Rico) was a close friend of mine. It saddens me that the news would try to make it seem as if suicide was a possibility. That is far from the truth. He was a cheerful guy and always made everyone laugh.

If you check the articles from the day it happened to now, the story changes several times. I don't know what happened to him but I do know he didn't stagger outside by himself after having gotten hurt that badly.

Rip Rico you will always be missed.

Sorry to hear that about your friend. I don't think anybody thought that suicide was even an option in this.

I for one, recall myself thinking (last year at digweed) that the railing on the second floor is very low and it would be pretty easy to flip over the railing and fall down the staircase if you are drunk, pushed by accident...or even if you're ta taller person. I remember staying away from that spot (second floor staircase) cause it kinda scurred me. Now this is just my opinion, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was the scenario (whether it happened on accident or foul play). RIP to your friend.
