Interesting; what most of you seem to gravitate towards, especially in the first few posts in this thread (albeit with maybe one exception) and then again in later posts, is actually mid-lines, not bass lines as such.
Got to give props to tehlord for upping real bass from soul to soul. That's what happens when the dub/raggae boys do bass, evry'ting below 100hz.
There's no where near enough gay disco in this thread - I first heard this one at the notting hill carnival a few years back (dropped by Fatboy Slim) and granted it was on a Soundclash system (think walls of subs) but still I doubt I've heard many basslines pump that hard....
More gay disco, this time french (I know, I know, they're basically the same terms).
Man, those Frenchies can do basslines:
If we're talking about EDM, there's no way you avoid the purest of them all - just big, ing sine prog bassline, given a whole lot of room in the mix:
Finally, Cambridge's finest:

I would LOVE to have a disco soundclash with you, like DJ'ing back to back to see who can drop the biggest and gayest disco bombs. Seriously, Do not chuck it when it comes to a subject as important as my love for disco. I will dance you back to the 70's.
I swear I'm not making this up; I accidentally won a semi-pro disco contest in London years ago. Drunk, I wandered on to a boat party which happened to be 70's themed, playing Disco loud so I proceeded to tear up the dance floor. Next thing I know I'm being given this massive trophy and it turned out it was the UK national amateur disco finals. ******s then took it back when they realised I wasn't registered or part fo their little sequined clique. You can't imagine how ty those wannabee Travoltas can get when you steal their thunder. ing bizarre night.
back on topic. I kind of believe that Cassius, Stuart Price (jaques lu cont/les rhythmes digitales) and daft punk invented Electro by themselves.
Cassius was doing that chopped up complextro a decade ago.
however, he also played the worst DJ set (pacha, Ibiza 2005) I have ever been subjected to in my life so he loses points for that.

I bought about 5000 records off this dj that played the gay scene from like 80 - 2000 when i bought them. I had everything. Sold them eventually when i went to school. HOnestly, i can't remember so many tracks i used to love. Like you name it, i had it. All these ital disco tracks you just can't find anymore. Kinda a shame.

moving on
i remember when the bass comes in at like 3 minutes. SOme tracks you jus have to hear at the right places. So many people just don't know how tracks actually sound how they were supposed to ie huge mega wall of sound. Kinda how like people are suprized that kicks that doesn't sound hard actually rock the place way harder. Something producers lack now. And something that made djs really good at making tracks that sounded good. Well back then. I can't defend them now in good contious.
