Nah son.

I'm too smooth for these fools.

What's to adjust to? Was there some aspect of your prior relationship that was contingent on her being a man?

Whatever you do, don't use Avana as a reference point for what transgendered people are like; she has issues that go far beyond that (if indeed she's genuinely transgendered at all, which I seriously doubt).

Normally when you get used to calling somebody one name and seeing them as a male every single day, it's not exactly easy to call them a different name and view them as an entirely different person. You make it sound like it's easy to just flip the switch and pretend the other person never even existed.

Nah, if you know or have known a trans friend or friends or even homosexuals and you are friends then you can talk in their lingo from time to time as long as it's friendly and honest. "YO, You Go Girl" is very demographically known but it's the tone that makes it sound wrong.

I have been sarcastic/rude with their lingo if I felt someone (always a person I didn't know well) was saying or implying inappropriate things to me just as a slap in their face.

But I never had any problem with saying something similar to "that is fierce" just to relate on a friendly level. I haven't had any close homosexual trans-esque friends since I was 22 (13 years ago) so I really don't know that demographic any longer. Been called a "Breeder" plenty of times back then and I would just call them "Transformers". All in good fun of course.

As far as the OP, never been in that situation.

Maybe to you. Did you vote for Rick Santorum by chance?

Being a transgender person is nothing new. In many cultures across the globe, there are anywhere from 3-7 genders being identified. With this person in particular, he was feminine as a man, so who am I to say that he shouldn't identify himself with the female gender? I think it would be hilarious if I followed your advice and ditched him as a friend. It would probably make me look like the most insensitive dick on the planet.

and youd probably get a ton of for it. :P

I know i seem insensitive but dude it just weirds me out. I know we're supposed to be socially accepting so we all seem cool and people make it seem if you aren't accepting then you're just repressing weird sexual urges you have and yaddi yadda. but for real i cross the line somewhere and cutting your dick off and mutilating it too look like a vagina is where I cross mine.

I have gay friends and theyre my most interesting cool friends. but If my friend Michael showed up to hockey monday night with his playoff beard and a dress askin me to call him Mikayla for now on, I think I would disown him....ok maybe disowning him is a lil rough but I'd definitely Jersey him and throw a few punches and then talk to him about how ridiculous he is and what a drama queen hes being

Be glad you don't speak a language with grammatical genders. I bet I'd get it wrong all the time until I got used to it.

I don't think there's anything we can say to help. It depends quite a lot on what she's like. Avana became a train wreck, perhaps due to the hormones kicking in and messing up with her chemical balance (I hope so), but as Young-hee said, you can't take her as the standard. Be supportive, be open, and always make sure if you do something, it's out of ignorance, not because you're being mean-spirited or oppressive.

I mean, I'm quite sure Arbiter is a North Korean girl, but should she turn out to be a guy, I'd be completely fine with it. I guess I'd just be puzzled for a couple of days. Or weeks. Or months.

I'm just saying you cant just put on a dress and decide youre a girl now
