Lol, I did the same thing. Went to the Garuda party at Space to meet up with blitz and andy, but man, it sucked hard. Went upstairs to hang out with some people I met earlier and to check out the Minus party and I never left.
That Minus party was a PROPER EDM show.
So hard to find a good trance party in Florida these days. More often than not I'm disappointed when it comes to trance. We need more of Aly & Fila, Fleming, Divini, Ummet Ozcan and less of Emery, Kyau & Albert, etc.
But smaller trance DJs don't tour the states like the smaller house/techno guys do. Shame.

There is just no demand for trance in the USA like there is in Europe. Second, trance music has changed and the artists that started out playing trance (Tiesto, Sander van Doorn, ect.) changed.
When I went to see Paul Oakenfold at Amnesia on April 21, he followed the same formula as every other trance dj that comes to the US (Miami at least): play a few select "signature" tracks and then mix it up with trouse.
If Paul Oakenfold plays trouse in Miami, then everyone else will play trouse in Miami. The djs and the promoters just try to cater to the masses. I have yet to hear a set consisting of "pure" trance that is not diluted and mixed with other generes of EDM. So frustrating as a trance fan, but I'll take 20% trance and 80% trouse then no trance at all.

I'm a trance fan, but I'm also an EDM fan.
And at this point, other than WMC, I think I'm going to stop going to trance shows, save for maybe Space (but not someone like Kyau and Albert).
Just rather save my entertainment/bar/club money on good house and techno shows -- stuff like Loco in Tampa and the bookings at Sky 60. I'll be able to see enough watered-down trance at Identity and EDC-Orlando anyways.

Yep I have been really getting into the deep house, techno music.

What I like about other EDM genre DJs is that they stick to their genre. If a big name techno DJ or a big name house DJ comes to town, I know that they will play their respective genres.
I've also been getting into techno. Svan Veth at Ultra this year is one major reason I'm getting into techno.

i dont care when a dj doesnt stick to their style. hell some of the best moments is when i get totally surprised by what a dj drops. what gets me is when they abandon their own creativity and play old ass overplayed that doesnt even fit in their sets just because everyone is else is doing it.

Yup. Most of the better sets I've ever heard, I've stood there thinking "what the am I listening to?? This is awesome!!" I love when I DJ isn't afraid to play some off-the-wall mind-bending that you couldn't possibly expect.
These types of sets seemingly almost NEVER happen in Orlando unfortunately. If Markus Schulz or Ferry plays a set in Orlando, I could pretty much give you a tracklisting in advance of what their set is going to include and it'll most likely be at least 50% accurate (not in terms of order, obviously).
On the bright side, chances are I get to move to South Florida next January for grad school! (but unfortunately I'll be in grad school).
magicalmaestro: check out Advent and the Industrialyzer. They have some great tunes that seem to appeal to those of us that like trance (not that they have a trance sound, though). For example...
Oh, and Laurent Garnier. Listen to that guy. I'm currently on an old-school early 90s Garnier binge, but his recent DJ sets are amazing as well.

Thank you ucforange. I really like the song. Sounds like something a DJ would play in the Techno Loft in Club Space. I'm like you, a EDM fan, but also a music fan as well. I'm not trying to be funny but when I go out "clubbing" in Miami, I treat the night more as a journey into the music than "clubbing".
My frustration just comes out at the whole South Beach scene actually. I'm sure Markus Schulz or Ferry Corsten would play more of a "traditional" set in Orlando then in Miami. Although many DJs and producers come to Miami, Miami is really all about the "clubbing" experience and not so much about the music, unless you've gone commercial, of course.

all i know is when Gareth played one of his northern lights shows in the middle of PEAK season in Ibiza. 500 people showed up at space which is extremely weak and of those 500 people 200 were left when i gave up.
He sucked then and continues to suck even more now. No thanks

I gave up on trance this year. It's all commercial cheese garbage every time. I been listening to deep house and minimal tech now. Sounds cleaner, not so noisy and the djs actually have style
ucforange
But there is still good trance out there. The parties just aren't in Florida (post-WMC). Scene just sucks ass here.
Why can't it be more like this:
and less like this:
I mean really? I'm still mad I gave that guy my money for that terrible show at the Beacham.

That bjorn is sick. Damn shame we don't get that stuff in the USA/FL
