Canada legalizing marijuana (pg. 2)

One of the obvious reasons they want to legalize it is just so that there's one more taxable good. It'll eventually end up like cigarettes, where more than half of what your paying is taxes.

Can you imagine going to buy weed at the store? "I'll have a pack of Craven J's" :toothless :toothless :toothless

Bahhh... I don't think it will happen any time soon. North America is too conservative and progressive ideas like the legalization of weed is too radical in our "close-minded" society.

And hell do i give a damn? NO ... I can still buy the best weed on the market without a problem and still walk down the street smoking it without a hassle.

What should be done by governemts is look into the alterior benifets of the canibis plant and promote the use of hemp and other by products isntead of chopping down acres of forests...

Bout' ing Time!

Well, for those who has the image of yourselves with free access to tons of pots just because the Senate is proposing legalization on marijuana use in Canada, it's far from that simple.

First of all, throughout history liberation takes a rather slow process...a more progressive approach toward issues such as illicit drugs. There are many wealthy s at the top of the food chain here and many would not condone such liberating laws that quickly.

However, many prominent names have come up when it comes to advocating "Our body, our right to govern" theories throughout the 60s till now. Vancouver, B.C has the greatest tolerance for marijuana usage as pot is the cash crop for B.C.

Tourism will no doubt florish in Canada should this fall through. However, look at George W. Bush following his Dad's footsteps...he's deliberately assigned the DEA to set up a drug war to be lanched in Canada. What the was that? Now he wants to participate in Canadian politics and tell us how to run our fooking country.

As far as I know, legalization in the nuturing stage will first strip the illegality of possession (a certain amount)/sale of marijuana. Of course, the government will work with the locals to devise a plan to contribute to the needy, esp those who are in pain and in need of THC for relief.

Emperors from way back in the BC ages have already smoked this plant for it's relieving purposes. All the "pot will make you stupid" were contributed by the govt and their propagandas. Nowadays, even Americans are seeking approval from the Canadian govt to reside, grow and smoke marijuana for pain-relieving purposes. (eg. those with AIDS).

Anyways, I hope that the legalization will come through in the near future. Are Canadians going to spend billions of dollars like the US trying to control and wage drug wars all year round in Columbia and Bolivia? I do not think so. Statistics show that decriminalization of Pot in Amsterdam has about 20% of smokers in the 20-25s range while US mantains a high 30-40%.

Prohibition of Alcohol has spawned Al Capone and his crew in dealing and jacking up high prices back in the early days. The once renowned Pablo Escobar from the prohibition of Cocaine.....clearly it's the simple basic of economics - demand and supply. Not trying to condone hard drugs like coca but criminalization of marijuana is a plain waste of money and space. Look at UK, even the House of Commons have decriminalized marijuana. However close Blair is to Bush, the decision lies in interests of the people. I hope Canadians have their own minds and will not be led by the nosey "erm-hmm" US politicians and never-ending campaigns...

Cheers :)

This will never happen, at least not while bush is in power. If canada legalizes weed bush will us over. the border will be drastically changed and who knows how else he'll us, Canada will never legalize b/c they fear how the americans will react, they will on us. Thats just what I'm thinking but I hope they legalize the to make my life simpler.

america is so.. protective of their citizens
"oh no porn it will harm the children! no video games it will harm the children! no weed it will harm the children!"

im not saying im for legalization of marijuana.. but from what I've heard.. give people what they have wanted for such a long time.. and they will gradually stop using it.
like the Banning of Alcohol.. prohibition act.. what happened? more alcohol then ever.. everyone was smuggling. making bathtub gin.. it got legalized again.. and everything went back to normal

Wont happen for awhile, the US is already interefering with the whole thing.

I'm embarrassed to live in the US when it comes to the WOD, they're so ignorant. Alcohol is worse but people regard it as safe.

If they legalize it in Canada i'll be having tons of road trips across the border, and i'm sure Canada will reap all the benefits of hemp while the US is spending BILLIONS of dollars to air commercials during the Super Bowl.. idoits could of spent that money on research or some .
