Hey guys,

So if you check out the Alexander Kowalski - Friendly Fire (Dosem Remix) track Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3syQXJyQmk at around the beginning 00:59 - 01:02 you hear this "glamor-y" massive trumpet stab sound?? I'm sure it's reverbed. Anyone have an idea how he got this sound? I've heard it in a lot of house and progressive songs over the years and have been for a while wanting to learn how to make it - sounds rad to me. Any of your guys' insight would be cool.

sounds like a saw wave slightly detuned, with a 1/16 note lfo on the pitch

Definitely more than 1 octave, right?

Trying to think, it sounds like a detuned saw playing a chord and might be as simple as that but I'm not sure...

Hmm I've been trying but still can't seem to pull out that sound. I have massive and sylenth1 - do any of you know any presets that have similar sounds so I can get an idea of the structure or maybe a vid or pdf?
Mel David
Sounds like a classic Jupiter 8 brass (or emulation) with some slight modulation and heavy reverb. It is playing a chord, and maybe hi-pass filtered.

Do you think it sounds similar to this patch?

I'm hearing distortion on it too, although that could very well be the song clipping too. Youtube compressing the out of it.

It also sounds like this sound, so it could even be a sample.

1.40 for the sound in the chorus, sound quality is dire as e. Sorry about that.
Deillon
Brass with a slight LFO on the pitch.
You can hear the lfo speed increasing so assign an envelope with attack to the LFO speed.
tehlord
It's an inverted Amin chord.
