What better for mixing. MP3 or Wave? (pg. 2)

I like mp3 because it sounds identical to wave plus the art and id3 tags that come along with it. Now there is aiff which is the same quality as wave but with all the benefits of an mp3. All we need now is beatport to add FLAC.

I use this:

And plug these:

In the dre boom box. That way I can ensure the entire trail of audio is at the highest quality. Straight to my ears.

And for some extra giggles as I have my final exam tomorrow.

99.9999% of soundsystems, a 320 mp3 is not your weak link. Just the volume alone will trigger your natural ear compressor ( some form of tissue that tightens the inner parts that move so that it is less sensitive) distorting the signal. And the room acoustics, there is no ing way you are getting more fidelity than a well designed home system.

This guy is full of . Might make great speakers, but to suggest we need to use 24 bit 96 Khz wav files to address human hearing is ridiculous. Most 16 year olds can't hear above 18. Most 25 year olds are at 16. 40 year olds at 12.

maybe on a classical tune with very low rms but on a dance tune, bullocks.

BUt at a club where everyone is not sobber, nobody is going to notice.

Yeah. I kind of figured he indulges in excessive purism with a little hyperbole for added measure and that, for the reasons you stated, most listeners aren't really going to notice 96K resolutions. Still, I read this thread and saw that nutjob purists were severely under-represented. In spite of this, I think he presents an ideal that, even taking what you said into consideration, shouldn't necessarily be sold short. It's not that I'm militant about it and hereafter, I shall cease arguing.

The weakest link is the speaker. That is the one thing holding back fidelity. That is the reason why mp3's can exist because the listening source is what it is.
