I was talking about this plonky squarewave bassline and ty vocal-recording/performance deep house style that is popular for some reason now. Although some of it is pretty good, like Maceo Plex, he knows what he's doing, i dont blame him for milking the same style every track, all his tracks are bombs. Not my style bet definetly respect what he's done! |

| ya maceo is def a genius but i'm a little tired of his music these days. everyone plays it so it isn't really special anymore. Still has skills (of course) |

| I call it hipster house. Still deciding whether it's here to stay or another one of those fads. |

I thought it was gonna last 2 months but im starting to think its not gonna die out for a while. It's too easy to make versus how popular it is. You can literally be the worst singer in the world and have 1 day of experience on ableton and as long as you put one of those plonky basslines and reverb the out of your piss-poor vocal, someone will sign it, thus prolonging the trend. Solomun's remix of Around has to be my favorite one of the bunch, that's a good track, fad or not. |

Just to clarify with everyone this is probably gonna stick around for a while cuz many have missed, this is The prog that Desyn, Luke fair, Add2basket and that whole crew were championing 3 years ago it just got reincarnated and pitched down.
the reality of things it crosses over, genres and fads repeat themselves over and over...they are just disguised differently every time they re-surface.
to be honest its not as easy as you think it is to make. |

the reality of things it crosses over, it has vocals in it, when the women like it and dance to it, it makes the men dance as well thats a whin whin situation, which means more booze being sold.

Its pop house, I can see why its so popular.
do i really need to make another track under casa to prove my point Mr. Daniel.. |

wait wait wait...when we say 'hipster house', is an example of it the whole hot natured/hot creations sound that's being way overdone these days?
i call that ketamine house. and i ing despise it. |

look, there are always exceptions...i'm not saying i hate every song ever made that fits the genre in question ('despise' was a harsh word, i admit it) however, i am saying that i am fkn fed up of hearing the same formula & same components in each track that fits this hipster/ketamine house genre.
everybody and their mother has jumped on this wagon, and i get why. it's popular, it's hip, it's what attracts attention from bigger artists like lazarus, art dept, jones, foss, troxler, etc...these days.
i don't think it will fade away soon, but eventually, yes, it will. music is like fashion, everything repeats itself...
i think some ppl may have the wrong impression, and think i like this hipster house maybe because maher plays a lottttt of it these days and i support him no matter what he makes, but it's really funny actually when i come home & he asks what i think about what he's working on and i say something like 'i fkn hate this' lolllll...i am brutally honest with him.
honestly, it just hasn't grown on me...but i can still enjoy SOME of it in small doses with the right ppl and the right party. it's not all terrible, but i am sick of it.
and it's interesting, like ppl said before, i too hear maceo plex absolutely everywhere, but , i still don't get sick of his sound. i rly feel he's in a fkn league of his own...u want a new beatport genre? maceo plex house, there, done. i still listen to 'life index' almost every day. so it's not because a genre is everywhere that i dislike it...it comes down to taste in the end (like everything else in life i guess).
ill check out the hot natured party that's happening at telus theatre, maybe they'll impress me this time :) |
