I'm sorry if I'm beating a dead horse here, but I did a search nothing came up on the HDJ 500's. I've had the sony headphones before, and I really loved them. I was just wondering if anyone knew or could give me a comparison to the pioneer ones? I'm looking to get a new pair and I love pioneer products in general, but I'm not sure if I should try the switch.

Can't vouch for the Sony's, but the Pioneers are just imo, If you ask me I'd be looking at Sennheiser's or Audio Technica's headphones.

Go for either the Sennheiser HD25 or the Sony MDR-7506. I have both and they are great!

Another vote for Sony MDR7506. Not used HDJ500 but I had a pair of HDJ1000 before. They sound great but are flimsy as f00k. A friend of mine has HDJ2000 which at least have metal clasps, but then at that price they should be made of solid gold.

Whichever you plump for go to a reputable source as theres loads of fakes on eBay etc.

Sony MDR or Vmoda crossfade LP, LP2. I have had both the HDJ 1 and 2k both broke. Vmodas are built tough and sound great. I also owned a pair of MDR's but they gave me the worst ear ache after wearing for a hour or so.

Ive been using akg 518's for some time. You won't find better dj headphones for 50 bucks imo.

Yea, the Sony MDR-700 really hurt your ears because the ear pads are as ty as hell and don't cover your ears, but press on them. Plus, they are really fragile at the parts where the cans are connected to the band; mine broke at one of these seams, but luckily the wire and sound quality remained intact so I could fix it. I don't have any problems with the sound itself however. You probably already know all this though cause you use them
