So I am doing a bachelor and bachelorette party for Jess and I, and 50 of our friends, next month at this Penthouse in Las vegas

http://www.palms.com/accommodations...as-penthouse-b/

We are brining up decks, and have DJs playing most of the night. However I am looking for IPOD music for the first couple hours 3PM-5PM and am trying to get something on the chillout, funk, downtempo realm. Something really mellow, but not to ambient and sleepy. My friend who is starting the evening off is playing Deep house around 123 BPM.

Mark Farina's mushroom jazz sound is ideal, but Id like to find something more recent, and that I havent listened to a million times already.

Anybody have any ideas on two hours of music that would fit in well given the criteria?

Bands? DJs? Help!

thanks!

Photek has a new album mix DJ Kicks which may be what you are looking for.

Sick Penthouse! Congrats! When will you be out there?

mikey, we will be there end of june. the penthouse is suuper sick, 3200 sq feet with a freakin jacuzzi on the balcony, cant beat it.

photek and early kaskade stuff huh?

I was thinking some jazz infused house sound. Like the OM stuff of a few years back, a compilation called OM Lounge comes to mind specifically. Perhaps stuff without a steady bass kick so that once the real music kicks in there is a noticable change in the vibe of the party.

I may end up with some mushroom jazz, but was hoping to get something similar but more recent. Anybody good friends with Mark F? Maybe we can just have him come by for a 2 hr mushroom jazz set
:D

I gave this a listen the other day. very eclectic. Not really my taste, but it was put together well.

Well if we're whoring out our own mixes here my latest one is definitely slow (<115 bpm) and house-tastic. :p

I dunno. My IRL friends have been surprisingly into this one and they're usually into more mainstream stuff so it's definitely got an accessible vibe. Solid daytime music IMO.

edit: but seriously jonmitz' mix is good.
