Hi
Currently im using:
Novation Supernova
Roland Jp8000
Roland Juno106
Behringer 1604a
Absolute Sprit 2
Samson Servo 260
im producing trancemusic....molodic trance that
builds up alot of strings.
all synths i have is ANALOG.
im specially looking for a synth that can create good
sweepy, spacy and harmonic strings that sound like the onces that (Steve Helstrip) Thrillseekers uses in his "Dreaming of You" or in the "Synaesthesia" track. Theese strings/pads har just wonderful.....and those strings could not be done by an analog synth like JP8000. believe me...ive tried alot.
I have talked to Steve and he says that he uses a Wavetable synth thats called Korg Triton.....a very expensive wavetable synth.
now is my question.....to recreate a string thats not quite the same as thrillseekers but almost.....what synth can i use for that ? it must be a digital synth.....but which one? any1 have some tips?
ive heard that the Korg TR-Rack is pretty good for strings...and also Roland Jv1080 or Jv2080 is good.
any have some good info to share ?
thanks

Korg's sample playback synths have great strings and pads. Roland's are good, but are different. They tend to be more hard and electronic sounding. Don't go for Alesis'es syths because they are way to slow (as far as attack goes) and are really only good for ambient tracks. Fiddling with the attack rate doesn't seem to help much either. Trust me, I've tried.I don't have any expereince with Yamaha synths (except the old FM style which is not what you want). |
