need help adding vocals to track

hi all, I'm working on this track and decided to add a vocal sample, something i haven't really done before.
i adjusted the bpm to match the track and changed the pitch, but it sounds a bit off, I've tried editing it a bit to make it fit but still no luck.
am i doing something wrong? anything i should know? thanks for the help
here's the track, vocals start around 2.30
