Dubstep..... Yay or Nay? (pg. 3)

It was one of my favourites of 2010. Thought he expanded his sound very nicely, stepped away from doing the standard "melancholic night-time" mood of ambient dubstep and had a more lush, widescreen and exotic feel to it. I can't find it in any of the record shops in my city for some reason, think it's only on import from Lo Dubs in the US at present. Might have a little spending spree this weekend, there's a new FSOL Environments album out as well.

Orbiting is one of my favorite tracks in a long time.

Also, I like electro house more but I still love dubstep.

Dubstep-wise? Check out Swarms - Old Rave's End from the same label as Clubroot. Slightly different, but still excellent ambient dubstep.
RapidFire
chilled out dub step ala burial - yes

even the more engertic stuff minus the obnoxious drops is nice;

but the hardcore is unbearable

I generally think dubstep is a genre that shouldn't exist... Every now & then you will find an enjoyable dubstep track, but when it's bad, it's AWFUL.
Even with mixed opinions I think we can all agree that it's a mystery how dubstep became commercial music

Not much of a mystery at all when you consider how nu-metal became commercial over a decade ago. Appeals to similar demographics, just a new generation.

No, it's not a mystery at all actually.

But as with any music, there always is loads of total rubbish, especially now that there's a buzz about it.... stay with the OGs, and spend time digging through the new bits for great tracks. They are most definitely out there.

If you can avoid the stuff which isn't good, there is some enjoyable listening stuff around as has been mentioned. Some tracks that I like are

then listen to a radio station which will never touch dubstep all day long. Or a 1990s cd collection.
