Anyone else go to AVB last night? Holy Sh*t, he killed it! First, he came on at 11 instead of 12 (for non-boston peeps, that is a big deal) and that was a complete surprise to me. Second, he played a sick set that was not a complete producers set or filled with all vocal songs. One thing I did notice is that he mixes in and out of songs pretty quickly. He doesn't let the beat ride out at all any more - fine by me but I do like it when he would let the beat ride a bit before starting his next transition. Some songs I remember off the top of my head:

that's exactly the problem these days
armin,beatport,his fans etc label this new sound as "trance"
when it's really not, so obviously the word trance gets a bad name if people were to label it as trouse or pop (which imo it is) than i wouldnt have a problem |

The only problem is that like this bores most people now. I heard Armin over the weekend and enjoyed a lot of the tracks he played. A lot of energy and the place was going wild. Also, people want to hear the artist's hits, he'll be playing In and Out of love for eternity the same reason why the Rolling Stones have been playing the same songs for 50 years. |

This new sawpad/bassline trance will die with 2013 max. i don't think in and out of life will ever be considered classic.it will be equal to castle in the sky. very wellplayed but dead to the future. Stay classy NY |

I guess i should give more details when i post. i believe i am coming out as a hater of electro and loud saw basslines and leads. i am not. i actually like it. just don't think it should continued to be labeled as trance. It has lot more followers than the trance crowd.
what i am trying to say that electro trance will die since it sounds and peaks are "lag-y" compared to the hype of electro house. This new electro-house will be the ruler of the mainstream EDM for at least an other decay. i mean electro is the new hip-hop. Eventually no one will hire trance djs/producers as headliners because their electro sound is boring compared to jackhouse-electro noise coming out of afrojack and chuckie. trance is meant to be uplifting. so electro elements don't mix well. Soon Trance events will come back to barely filling a club and people like me and you will be slightly happy. Yet complaining : )

Here is something that you probably would think it was a hiphop event back 10 yrs ago. this is the future of EDM. This is the surviving Genre of electro. together with Dubstep it will most likely be the main headliners for years to come. Not Electro-trance.
