straight from the man himself. no more details yet, never heard of this club but it's in the SOMA

e: on his webpage now http://www.stoneyboy.com/

The Grand is actually a pretty nice club if you can get over the enormous amount of Asians that attend. They typically book a lot of House/Electro DJ's and some singers.

Lately, they have been booking a lot of DJ's that I have never even heard of, so I haven't been since Mark Farina laid it down. Stonebridge should be a great turnout, even though pretty much every weekend is a good turnout.

Bottle service is a great thing to have at this club. Vegas style club in San Francisco.

getting super excited for this!

anyone who knows: is the parking situation safe? i looked on google street view and there were several lots (non-structural) around the corner. i havent been to this specific area and i know it can get sketchy if you stray too far from the main areas
GeminiZ
Yes. It is safe.(for me anyways. I drive a Honda Civic). I usually just park at a meter on the street the club is on or somewhere around the corner. The lots would probably be even safer. Now if you are rolling up there in a BMW or Mercedes I would try to find a lot or garage, but if you arrive earlier than normal you can usually find a meter right in front of the club or right down the street. It's pretty safe there because most of the bouncers are watching the line outside most of the night and a lot of people are walking in and out of the club.

are you going gemini? :)
GeminiZ
I might check it out. Not sure yet.

they'll find any reason to kick you out of line..shirt isnt tucked in, pants too baggy, drinking something in line...ughh such a hassle just to get in, i get more dressed up here than i do in vegas...and then i see people in vnecks and tshirts and untucked shirts in the club..i guess they do it to even out the ratios cuz its only guys getting kicked out of line, but even when i went inside there were a lot of dudes...loosen up the dress code seriously.
jonmitz
that's real ty. luckily i'm not going in via guestlist.

how is the sound/dancefloor quality??

LphiESteve
from what i remember...it was pretty bright for a club in there.
GeminiZ
Yeah. The bouncers there are really strict. This guy was drinking a red bull in front of me one time and the bouncer came over and asked to sniff his drink, like he had alcohol in or something. Also, they wouldn't let me friend in one time because he had on pumas.

The dance floor is semi small, and can get really flooded on a big night.

The lighting is typically moderate. Sometimes it will be a lil bright, sometimes it will be a little dark.

Most of the times I go, I am usually upstairs in the VIP sections overlooking the crowd anyways.

The DJ is kinda in an odd position. He is in the top corner of the room, up on a ledge, behind the floor VIP, but you can always see him no matter where you are standing.

The sound is pretty good, but not as good as Ruby Skye's. (Not much bass)

The smoking section will not open up until 11PM, so you can't go outside til then.
