But Gary Botting, a Vancouver criminal defence and extradition lawyer, said the case — which falls under the Treaty Between Canada and the Federal Republic of Germany Concerning Extradition, which was signed on Sept. 30, 1979 — could draw out for about a year if Mr. Magnotta pursues the two available levels of appeals should the German government decide to extradite him.
Mr. Botting said the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade first had to make a formal, diplomatic extradition request to its German counterparts. Mr. Magnotta, he said, will likely be denied bail in the meantime because of the magnitude of the allegations against him and the international publicity surrounding the gruesome case.
He said that starting today, a Crown prosecutor in Montreal — where Mr. Magnotta is accused of having killed and dismembered 33-year-old Lin Jun in his apartment — will have 45 days to build what is called a record of the case. That record will contain a detailed summary of all evidence against Mr. Magnotta, and it will then be fully turned over to the Department of Justice’s International Assistance Group, Mr. Botting said.
Next, he said the department will submit the record to authorities in Germany, where Mr. Magnotta will face a two-, three-, or four-day extradition hearing. That hearing is likely to take place roughly six months from now, he said, due simply to normal court-scheduling demands.
Mr. Botting said a German judge will also hear from the defence — likely a capable and high-profile legal aid lawyer appointed to represent Mr. Magnotta — and will then take two weeks or so to decide whether the evidence against Mr. Magnotta is substantial enough to warrant extradition. The German government has the ultimate authority to decide whether to accept the judge’s recommendation, and Mr. Magnotta has the right to both appeal the judge’s decision and then later, should he so choose, the government’s decision.
All I can say is, revoke his citizenship and let him have fun in Europe for the rest of his life. What would be even better, is if Lin's family asks the Chinese government to intervene and kidnap this piece of and ship his ass to some dark hole in China.

I'm fully with you re: revoking citizenship - although it won't be fair to German citizens - I'm guessing his jail time is covered by their taxes there?

He waived his right to fight extradition. He'll be back in Canada sooner than expected.

reasd this in the cor when someone asked what the video was like

A naked male is seen tied to a frame of bed while his captor stabs him in the abdomen with an ice pick. The victim is them seen with his throat slashed as his captor proceeds to slowly slice various parts of his body with a knife.
Later in the video, the victim is entirely decapitated and the captor uses his kitchen knife to cut into the muscles and dismember one limb after another. The murderer plays with severed limbs and even rubs his crotch area with them. It must have turned him on because the next thing he does is flip the dismembered, decapitated corpse on its front and it in the ass from behind.
Using a knife and fork, the murderer then slices a piece of fatty flesh from victim’s ass and presumably eats it before bringing a hungry dog in to also feast on freshly killed man. The black and white pooch could not resist the smell of raw flesh and bit right into the stump.
Once pooch was done, the murderer stuck a bottle neck up dismembered man’s anus and repeatedly assed him with it. Putting the severed hand into use once more, the murderer laid on his bed pantless and masturbated with it.

Possible human remains delivered to two Vancouver schools
Packages containing what appear to be human remains were sent to two Vancouver schools on Monday.
The Vancouver police department’s major crime section and the B.C. Coroners Service are investigating.
The Vancouver School Board had little to say on the matter, citing an active police investigation.
“Our priority is always for our students, to provide a calm and safe environment for them,” said spokesman Kurt Heinrich.
Vancouver police will release more details Tuesday afternoon.
German cops are so calm, Canadian cops need to learn a thing or two. You just know Toronto cops would have busted in through the windows, torn up the place, and then charged the cafe owner with obstruction of justice for having windows.

Police confirm human remains sent to two B.C. schools

VANCOUVER, B.C., - Vancouver Police say packages containing a foot and a hand were delivered to two area schools this afternoon.
However, Deputy Chief Warren Lemcke says he can't comment on whether the packages are connected to the dismembered body of a Chinese student found in Montreal last week.
Police say a human hand was discovered in a package opened at a school near the Olympic Village, and later this afternoon, a human foot was found by staff at St. George's School, a private boys school.
Police say they have no indication that staff or students were targeted at the schools.
Alleged killer Luka Rocco Magnotta is to be extradited from Germany for the killing of a Jun Lin, whose remains have not been completely recovered.
Magnotta is wanted after a torso was found in a Montreal back alley and body parts were mailed last week to the headquarters of the federal Liberal and Conservative parties.
One of Lin's hands, a foot and his head are still missing.
