Trance and EDM’s close-knit groups and themes of togetherness have enabled people’s lives to change for the better. People feel as though they really belong to something special. For example, people can become part of the trance family simply by placing #trancefamily on a Twitter post. What’s it like to be a huge part of this love movement that is taking over the United States?

“It’s amazing. It feels like the Woodstock of the next century.

I still hate it that there’s still a stereotype image.

A lot of people still call trance music ‘rave music’ or ‘techno’, and it’s not anymore.

It’s not like that at all. There are a lot of people that don’t use drugs.

I’m not saying that people don’t use drugs, I’m just saying that at trance events, you don’t feel that atmosphere.

You feel like there may be a few people that do that, but not more than on the average street.

So it’s not about that. It’s about sharing a love and a passion.

If I view my own Twitter timeline, #ASOT or Armin van Buuren during my weekly radio show, it is just so insane what this music does to people.

And I’m so happy that I can make these people’s lives a little bit better by just playing music. Music made by other people.

Not even by me. So this is an incredible power.

But like I said before, I’m just a little pawn in a big network and I pass on what is given to me.

This is my position. I’m a DJ, I try to select and I follow my heart.

And I’m not perfect, but if you listen to A State of Trance, I can guarantee you you’ll hear 70-80 or maybe even 90% of the tunes matter at the moment.

Yes I’ll miss a few. Why...because I’m human...
