The COR never had any serious intellectual value, this was always a community of strangers who've been trading banter with each other long enough to become (mostly) tight-knit. Numerous entertaining "idiots" have made their mark here. Today's ALTs and Trolls just lack the vibrant, verbal panache that defined this forum years ago.
This forum is not going to be a source of stimulating, fresh ideas that challenge and educate you. There are too many alternative sources of quality material in this world. There are too many other forums that are filled with nothing but Arbiters, System-Js, Liras, etc. Some of you guys crave insight and meaningful entertainment, and seem angry that the COR doesn't provide it. Sometimes we all want to read and participate in the discussions of intelligent, interesting people with a wonderful sense of humor. This is the last place anyone should look for that.
Just let it go, some of you want too much from one (small, and shrinking) group of people. If you're bored with this forum, that's because you rely on it too much to break up the monotony in life. You have to be the one to create meaning in your life, it's pointless to condemn others because they won't serve it to you. I've learned to look elsewhere for intellectual refreshment.

I agree, he provides the unique perspective of the stupidity of the masses. |

all of his posts are written as though for a pulpit, but he has no message other than "i've done way too much acid in my life". this guy makes william look like a in' rocket scientist. |
Speaking of William...
I know it's been a while and I may be way off, but this photo reminded me of him. |

I'm definitely not looking for the COR to be TED. I just don't want it to be Jersey Shore multiplied by Toddlers and Tiaras, either. |

Actually, I must second that. I can imagine what a thread with just the three of us would be like:
| quote: | Lira: Why can't there be more love in the world!?
Arbiter: Love is for the weak.
System-J: Define love.
Lira: Well, you know, caring for one another. Here, let me post a wall of text to prove my point.
System-J: No, I don't know, you can care for people you don't love. You clearly don't know what love is. Here's a gigantic rebuttal!
Arbiter: I love not caring for anyone.
Lira: Lies, I know there's some love in your heart, Young-hee. And, Sys, you actually make a good point, but here's another essay on the issue so I can try to find some middle ground and explain myself even more. I guess you know what I mean now.
Random TA: Interesting discsussion! Who's Young-hee!?
Arbiter: :thepirate
System-J: No, I don't.
Lira: Indeed, you don't. Arbiter is.
System-J: What!?
Lira: Well, you can do her if you want. I bet she's got massive knockers. North Koreans are best Koreans, and they're really fit!
System-J: Wait, if this is supposed to be just the three of us, who's the random TA?
Lira: Meat? :conf:
Arbiter: It's a bot in disguise. Quote his post, there's a link to a page selling skimmed dumps. It probably just scanned my name, and it doesn't count as an extra person.
Lira: Oh. Suspended. Where the hell is Sushipunk when we need him!?
System-J: There's no Sushipunk, just the three of us.
Lira: :( |
It would be sad indeed :p |
