There are greasemonkey scripts that can eliminate a user's presence from the forums. Even the message "This user is on your ignore list" is removed. I think they might go as far as keeping you from seeing any quotes of the user in other posts. However, curiosity might still get the best of some of you, if dozens of users are responding to the troll.
Ultimately, we make the forums terrible by derailing threads just for them and replying with bull whining and disgust. Trolls aren't entertaining or witty, we are. It doesn't suddenly become OK to up a thread just because someone else is, and that's the biggest problem here. Either destroy them with wit and humor, or ignore them entirely. Many here don't get it: if you aren't adding something to the discussion either, then don't reply. Even to the tiest, most infuriating trolls you've ever seen. |
