There are torrents with like a thousand hours of terence mckenna lectures I'd recommend getting that instead of wading through these youtube videos with cheeseball music (or psytrance) that people upload

as profound as this stuff is I actually love his sense of humor over everything else. It's like if you take yourself seriously you just lose all credibility

Actually, I know next to nothing about this guy. However:
quote:
In his book Food of the Gods, McKenna proposed that the transformation from humans' early ancestors Homo erectus to the species Homo sapiens mainly had to do with the addition of the mushroom Psilocybe cubensis in its diet - an event which according to his theory took place in about 100,000 BC (this is when he believed that the species diverged from the Homo genus). He based his theory on the main effects, or alleged effects, produced by the mushroom.

He whatted!?

some of his ideas are definitely out there, but IMHO the guy was just brilliant. here's a few more (they're all short clips, 3 - 8 mins each) that you might like:

he was a brilliant guy. a lot of the knowledge Joe Rogan drops on his podcast comes from Mckenna's theories and it really is some life changing stuff for those who choose to have an open mind

He makes a pretty convincing case and to be fair it's not any more crazy than the ancient aliens guy telling everyone our genes were spliced with extraterrestrials to account for the same phenomenon, and that's on national television, so there.
