| Or is it dominated by pop and whatnot? Im curious.. I mean at least with Cleveland radio in Ohio, USA this would be unheard of. Sure, you have live broadcasts of dj's but are regular radio playlists using trance too? |

Well over here in Holland the radiostations are quite diverse. The biggest stations over here are Skyradio (with nearly only popmusic and sometimes a dance record), Radio 538 (commercial music, which means that almost every style gets airplay also trance) and Radio 3FM (also quite diverse in their program, but more underground than 538).
So for trance on the radio you can listen to 538, but you'll have to wait till the weekend. On friday we've got Jean's Madhouse and on saturday (the famous) Van Diepen's Dance Department.
And then there is ID&T Radio where they only play dance music all day. From trance to techno, house to progressive (but during the day often the more commercial type of dance). |

| dj mdma said it all...however, like all radio stations, sometimes good trance songs get slaughtered and become overplayed. not to mention, trance songs will be included on like "summer hits" cd's or shoved into compilation cd's along with pop songs and everything else....oh..the pain i feel when i see that happening... |

| ocassionally you get a small few of tracks that are popular enough, otherwise tis just cheese. for example u can hear punk, the theme, can u dig it, all on the radio but only maybe once or twice a day, the trance scene is big but not commercially viable enough to get significant airplay for most if not nearly all decent non-cheesy tunes. |

Amazingly (considering the scene) in NZ (I know its not in Europe) they have started to play quite a lot of dance music on the radio.
Two stations have just come up:
George FM - which plays extremely good house most of the time and some breaks/dnb and jazz which I give a 9/10.
&
Up FM - which just came out a few days ago and is supposed to play the lot. First time I turned it on it was playing some DnB.. next time I heard a trance song and a hard trance song (w00t) and the last time it was playing hard house..... so I'll give it a 9/10 (-1 for the Hard House though its betta than pop by miles). |
