Just bagged myself a JV1080 on ebay for 80

Ridiculous price.

I had one in about '94-95 and I think I paid about 750 second hand.

Doesn't really do anything my software can't do, but I just wanted it. Convertors are beautiful, sounds so smooth. It probably won't translate much into actual mixes, but still.

I might have to do a JV1080 ambient track now.

Is it a synth or rompler?

Had a listen to demos of its, sound really warm.

It's teh synth.

It's one of the old s&s synths that Roland wowed me with as a teenager :D

I made a couple of pad demos so far.

These are untouched out of the 1080 into a bit of Artsacoustic, just stuff played in live.

You paid 80 for 8Mb of samples, expertly and masterfully programmed by E. Piersing.

"In addition to being the Creative Director of Spectrasonics, Eric was a longtime consultant and the Chief Sound Designer for Roland Corporation Japan from 1984-2005, creating the key sounds for many popular Roland synthesizers, samplers, CD-ROMs, expansion boards, processors and groove devices - from the vintage Jupiter and JX series, to the legendary D-50, D-70, JD-800/990, R8, S-series samplers, JV-880/1080/2080, the Sound Canvas, JP-8000/8080, MC-505/909, The V-Drums, XV-5080, Fantom series, the V-Synth and many more. "

One thing to check on it though: do notes flam when you do fast 16th-note staccato chord sequences? It does on my XP-50, very annoyingly. The RISC chip just can't bear running the synth engine + sequencer all at once.

...

I sold my Novation Nova on ebay, mint condition with all accessories, but no box (thrown out as I never imagined I would sell it, ever) for $320.00 AUD on ebay, just so I could finance my first DAW.

I did not know that.

Makes sense though.

So I broke open my Roland Fantom 7 tonight and inspired by this thread made a super saw thang from init. Added a little Cubase Reverence impulse reverb - my go to these days. Not any easy synth to programme imo.

Iv'e posted it inside an old track space as SC is playing up, hence it's got an old track name

Those are some meaty stabs Rich

I've been pondering getting a Yamaha Motif the last few days, just because of it's Cubase integration. Then I see the one I want is 2.5k and think maybe not.
