I actually used a several pieces of (non-ableton) software to make it. I've used controllers, CDJs, and turnables over the past 8 years and decided to try something different for a while. The amount of control you have over the tracks is outstanding and really blows my mind. It's a ton of fun to do, in a different way than, say, CDJs, and it keeps me coming back to try new and different things every week
The downside is it's a bit difficult to do a mix live using the software, but the functionality is there.
if i can ever justify the purchase (playing out in SF or elsewhere) then I'd take the dive and get an S4+laptop, but doesnt make sense to drop more than 2 grand on a pipedream
anyways - thanks for the listen! super glad to hear you enjoyed it :) |

Yeah I've been getting more into breakbeat music lately and this was a solid collection of tracks.
I figured you weren't using decks because the mixing was too clean and had too many tempo changes, but i'm confused about the "multiple pieces" of software. What are the programs, and why not just use traktor alone since you're not down with Ableton? Are you really not using any controllers? |
