Looks like Win8 is performing pretty well with audio :)

from a company that produces PC only software such as their synth z3ta?

i'm stunned by their results
Terrence Parker
Yeah I wonder how other DAWs will perform on Win8.
85% reduction in system calls/25 – 50% reduction in kernel use would be pretty amazing.

I'm not sure how amazing that would be. Since the computer already worked properly with all those calls. I'm guessing these are perfomance improvements are micro optimizations in terms of actual cpu usage percentage.

The overal 8% improvement is a nice figure though.

I'm just installing Win8 on my XPS right now, maybe it's just what the docter ordered to soothe my MAC cravings :D
Terrence Parker
I have installed it on a Fujitsu Lifebook and it feels faster than Win7 which it had before.
I am sure the final version will have some more optimizations.

If you had W7 on a machine, and then reinstalled W7, it would feel faster.

Probably.

Any OS feels very fast when its a clean, fresh install. Even Mac OS.

so im downloading the ISO. but i want to install it without having to burn it out on DVD, can I make a FAT-partition to put it on and then boot my mac on it after making another NTFS partition in OS X for Win8? three partitions; one for OS X, one for the ISO-win8-install, and one for Win8??

or maybe I can use an external USB disc for the ISO?

Wow that's complicated. Just shove it on a USB drive - there's tuts online about making bootable USB drives.
