It shouldn't really matter if it's legal or not. I'm just asking what your ideal price would be in general if you had a to pick.

A lot of people are still putting in answer other than free, interestingly enough. It seems most respondents see work and value in the music they like and are willing (perhaps even insisting) on paying.

Yeah, definitely it's interesting. I mean, i do spend a lot of cash with music, i don't care spending U$2,49 on Beatport for a good piece of music but well, if i PREFER to spend cash instead of taking for free...

Perhaps, the correct question would be: How much is ACCEPTABLE to pay for a digital single.

Maybe some people aren't interpreting this correctly....

Anyway, done.

Fixed to fit my opinion.

Ok, sorry. Fixed now ;)

I don't mind paying a load for a physical release, which has some value, and provides the full listening ritual experience, as well as a true feeling of "owning" that track/ep/album. Digital files simply lack that soul, they're meh.

For me it depends on the quality of music. If it's a really good track 2-3 bucks isn't bad. Most tracks are in the <$1 range.

Audiojelly last time I went there had absurd pricing, most of those tracks are . itunes has the right idea, everything is a dollar so if you buy some ty track you won't really regret it later on.

Beatport is far too expensive imo. they make much more off the exclusives and I would prefer to sell my tracks at a dollar, but when they're exclusive they'll sell for 2.49 per unit. I wouldn't want to impose that but its the label's decision. I wish I had more offers from people wanting to buy directly from me via paypal, I wouldn't turn it down. I guess its time for me to start up my own label for my own purposes perhaps, next year.
