| I was recently in a dj store and overheard a salesman on the phone trying to sell someone tech12s. What he said is that some guy did a handstand on top of the platter and it kept spinning.. :conf: Did this ever happen or was it just a figure of speech to say that it's a very high torque table? |

It's been done several times, but with the motor turned off. There's no way the original motor of an SL1200 can pull that weight.
But it's still a great thing that the sl1200 can hold it without falling apart. I wouldn't try doing that on most other tt's, unless you wanna throw it away. |

| You gotta do it right, of course you guys can stop it with your fingers, because you are pressing the platter to the reverse direction, rather than to the bottom. Plus take in mind the pressing the edges of the platter is more likely to stop it than on the centre, where the motor is (less friction I think between the platter and the bottom), like the hand standers do. |

| whats the torque on a tech12? at every specification list i've looked at it doesnt show toruqe. At that same DJ shop the guy told me that the toruqe of Tech 12s is 1.6kgf/cm, the same as the Stanton str8-80s, is this true or did he make it up cause i showed interest in the stantons? |

ya i stop the platter by putting my pinky finger on it.
However i have heard of someone putting their cat on the platter and the platter still kept spinning. However, the cat wasnt on the platter for very long. |
