having used the search and not finding much i wanted to ask a few questions
i am looking for a set of decent monitors for around £500 to replace my ebent TR-8. i also have a set of jbl 2325 which are really good.
I dont seem to be able to use my evants much anymore and find them a little tasking to the ear quite soon.
I wanted to know what people know and say about the M-Audio DSM 2/3 as on thomann.de at the moment they6 are silly cheap at only 400 / 440 a set for the 3's which are the dual 6''.
DSM 3
is there something else which you guys suggest.
Thanks

surprised that the search isnt turning up much as there have been plenty of monitor threads on here
Maybe check out those Yamahas HS range? I seem to remember people recommending them on here before |

| Im really happy with Genelec 8020 but they are nearfields with limitations; wont go deep in the bass, nor play very loud. Besides from this they are very flat, open and clear with great dynamics at low-to-medium levels. Dont need to play loud with these at all. Consider Focals in the same pricerange too, almost same construction as the Genelecs, maybe even more open midrange and softer treble but probably less powerhandling/volume. Both are 4" bassdrivers, it could be too small for many edm-producers but i love them. I couldnt stand the sound of Yamaha, KRK, Adams when comparing. |

i wish i could afford the focals but money is tight with the recent move of house
i have also heard good things about the fostex - pm2
I know its hard to get a good set for the £500 mark and understand they are one of the most important things in the set-up but i just need something decent for the meantime.
what would you guys go and buy if u were in my place. all suggestions will be very much appreciated indeed.
thanks |

| you already have JBLs, keep them for a while longer while saving more money! |

| Yeah, I would say monitors are something you definitely don't want to skimp on. So if you already have a pair that are not too bad, then just save until you can afford something really awesome. |
