They are going to issue a warrant for the guy...maybe he was kidnapped with the money, since he had access?
His picture certainly doesn't help. |

Nick Vachon, 26, was arrested in Aruba and brought back to Ottawa
A co-founder of the Escapade Music Festival accused of stealing more than $600,000 in proceeds from the festival's ticket and liquor sales on the Canada Day weekend has been arrested and appeared in an Ottawa court Wednesday.
Nick Guindon-Vachon, 26, was formally charged with theft over $5,000 and possession of stolen property over $5,000, Ottawa police confirmed. He was remanded into custody and will appear in court again by video on Friday.
Guindon-Vachon was arrested by the Aruban Police in the City of Oranjestad, Aruba, and Ottawa police travelled to Aruba and brought him back to Ottawa Tuesday.
Guindon-Vachon was a partner in DNA Presents, the company that staged the two-day electronic music festival.
Michael O'Farrell, another partner with the company, said he and his colleagues discovered the money missing from a vault at festival venue Ottawa Stadium the day after the festival. Guindon-Vachon had also disappeared the same day.
Police issued a warrant for Guindon-Vachon's arrest and a rental vehicle he had used was found at Pierre Elliott Trudeau Airport in Montreal.

| How many years in jail does grand theft get you these days? |

| He can get more because he embezzled the funds out of the country which is a higher offense if they end up seeking that charge. |

Probably all. The guy in Toronto who took first and last month rent from 50+ people on same 5 condos got some house arrest and community service. Which is pure bull. And now that he doesn't work and has no money or assets has can only pay like $1-$2 per month to each victim to repay The money. |

Its gonna go to court. But crown will agree to a way lesser charge. Because to secure a court room for weeks which this will take, it will take years. By that time it would end up in a stay of proceedings meaning it would get fully dismissed. So this will get off with some probation and house arrest for a couple years.
Our ing court system sucks.
He could have just hidden the money and after a few years of house arrest go back to Aruba and spend it. Great idea. Do nothing for a few years and have 650k waiting for you.
/End rant. |
