Foooook me........are the pads on this thing good or what???!!!

Just arrived today and flicking through the presets - its a tiny piece but well built!

Programming it is going to take a lonnnngggggg time for me to get used to - compared to the Nord for example (and that took me a fair while to get the sounds i wanted)

Such a good time to be making music these days - so many quality options out there - both Software and Hardware

blows my mind that they don't make an editor or at the very least something for the ipad. Waldorf has to be he worst run company making synths. I mean it is literally run by idiot savants. it is painful. They even made a software version, that sounds almost as good yet don't seem to have the common sense to incorporate that with the hardware at last as an VST editor. In fact the only editor for mac is this beta max msp patch. You really have to make your own.

The SL option is worth the 100$. Night and day really which is strange why people don't seem to opt for it. And the encoders will break on you. There is a soldering trick you can do but it is just one of those things with this synth that happens. Easy to fix but annoying if you don't know how to solder.

THe lack of audio input kinda sucks as the overall schematic is Q with some added features, the boolian logical operators are handy. I would say it is the most versatile synth right up there with the virus although they sound different. The virus has less modulation capabilities but better FX and the company is not on the verge of bankruptcy. Easier to edit, more outputs, more voices.

The blofeld is going for so cheap right now. It is selling new for half the price it used to go for.

Yeah, i got one, its pretty good.

Well Im not too bad at soldering but I hope i dont have to start opening it up some day in future :(

I saw that SL license was also available - think ill leave it for the time being, enough on-board to keep me going for a while anyway

How is the volume on it (too low?) ? Did you get the update where that issue was fixed?

Have to say i thought some patches sound a bit low on volume when going through them - then i read about some issue regarding low volume output. In Live i just saved my external instrument blofeld patch with +3db gain so its not so bad.

I have the 1.15 firmware installed but i see that there is a beta firmware available also. I did also get one occurance of the "init" bug so maybe next week i might try loading the beta as i read that its supposed to fix that

I ing hated the MicroQ, is the blofeld any easier to edit? does it have the Waldorf Pulse wavetables?
Looney4Clooney
sort of the same except the blofeld is a little more organized but it is essentially the same workflow. The Q has an editor tho while the blofeld doens't well not for mac. The pulse is an analog synth. The Q wins for being yellow.

mine was black and pink. the reason i bought it. it was cute and matched my virus rack xl nicely. both sucked UI-wise. Nords are so much better.
Looney4Clooney
Don't get the micro. Although I haven't seen the q on eBay for a while. Here is a fun fact, I sold my q way back to Manuel from vengeance. I procrastinated shipping it and he thought I ripped him off. He did get way too good of a price that I think I was debating shipping. Damn morals.

hardware is pretty gay anyway :p

Naw, just the black and pink ones (not that there's anything wrong with that).
