Emagic Logic 5.5.1 PC Limitations

Does anyone here have experience with using Logic PC on a strong pc ?

I always thought it was not possible to even start Logic 5 on a pc that had more than 1,5 gb ram.
But now i read the only problem is merging audio files ?

If thats all then there is no problem for me as i use midi for everything !
And you can bounce the audio parts and merge em to 1 file that way.
So just record them to 1 new track then it's merged too.
So i don't understand what the problem is if it can be worked around that easily.
Thus love to know what limitations you experienced before i give it a try myself.

I'm planning to give Emagic's Logic a try on a 4 gb ram system of a friend.
He has 7 core's ,and 3,4 ghz processor speed
So very curious to see what the limitations are
If it's only a merging problem then i just use 2 systems
And merge the arrangement parts on my old sys if above trick wont work
And then load up the new pc ones merging is done

I plan to buy an 8 core pc with 16 gb ram ability if i can use it
Then i still pay half the amount that i would need to buy a mac
And then i don't need all new versions of my owned VSTi

I can still make music fine on my 1,8 ,1gb ram sys
But i want to use some more cpu hungry VSTi and VST
So am searching for a way to upgrade.

NOPE i wont switch to cubase ,use that only on my ancient ATARI
I know all i need to know and use in my productions using Logic
So i don't see a reason to switch
If RAM is a real problem with PC and Logic then i think i sooner go for a hackintosh and illegal Logic Mac Version
Cos i hate Apple to the bone cos of what they did to my fav sequencer
So buying a mac is out of the question then i rather keep using the sys i use now
Thought about getting cubase ,but i don't want to learn a new sequencer again.
I worked some years on ATARI cubase when i started years back
But been using logic for over 15 years now.
So am used to that sequencer and it can do all i want to do
So am only seeking a way to gain more power to avoid having to bounce my tracks to audio
As it's easier to edit midi sounds then to edit audio recorded sounds.

TIPS ! For those still using Emagic Logic 5 PC

Reorganize Memory; Optimize memory management.
- If your sequencer stops with audio can't handle it message
Hit right click mouse on the numbers bellow the tempo on the transport
Then yes
That function helped me out when a song got too heavy on my cpu

Cleaning Trash;
Functions-Trash-Empty Trash
* If you did a lot of editing of your song
Then a lot can be in your trash
You can see whats in there before you delete

Clean up Undo Settings:
Edit-Delete undo history
Same as above if you edited a lot , then cleaning this can help free up memory.
Again you can see whats in there to not delete everything :)

VSTi no loading in Logic 5 fix
Gladiator VSTi as example wont load in Logic 5 PC as a VSTi
But if you use Chainer VSTi [multi-effect and multi-instrument rack]
Then you can use Gladiator VSTi without any problem
So load Chainer VSTi as your instrument
Then load Gladiator into the Chainer host ,And it works !
Might also work with other multi loaders , but i use chainer VSTi for it

PC gives audio can't handle it message
I like to stream all my sounds from midi instead of audio.
So ones i run 20 samplers and 10 VSTi at ones it sometimes can't handle it
Or if you use extremely heavy sounds on certain VSTi.
If that happens to you then you can always bounce the VSTi to audio
-Just mute all other VSTi tracks
-Play the heavy VSTi sound solo and bounce it to audio [Record to audio]
-Then load it in as audio file and drop it on audio 2
-Save the midi-song to have the played notes saved.
Then take the VSTi-Heavy VST Effects away from the instruments
Now the whole song will play again without problems.

With 1 gb ram you can stream-play 20 audio-tracks without problems.
Unless you got Ozone on every single track.
But you can record it to audio to take the cpu monsters away
Yet keep use of the monsters functionality
