He didn't say "Underground RUINED dance music." He said that the dance scene's unwillingness to embrace its full commercial potential "killed dance music for so many years".
That's way different than what the OP posted on the subject line.
Here's the exact quote.

Selling a lot of records does not mean his opinion on the underground has any credence. Quite the opposite, if anything.

That's too easy. This man has been part of an underground music scene for many years why would him being popular now make him less credible when talking about the underground? That's just being bitter. It's just a convenient way to validate your own opinion, which is, just as insignificant as mine.
It's good Woody gave the quote a bit more context.I agree with Guetta that staying underground for the sake of being underground doesn't make any sense. Especially from his commercial perspective and I don't think that invalidates his opinion at all. if anything, his music business experience would by far outrank any of us here in terms of understanding the music industry and having experienced it first hand at the top of the game and in the underground since the early 80s.

Because he is self-evidently about as far removed from the underground as is possible. What David Guetta does, and what he is saying in this interview is the exact antithesis of the underground mentality. He is irrelevant. If you don't understand that, you don't really understand what "underground" means in the first place.
Also, Guetta's connection to the underground, even 20+ years ago, are extremely tenuous. He was never underground, he was merely unpopular.
