I've had my Maschine for years and I love it. You can search the forums for Maschine and you'll find quite a few discussions, but the general consensus seems to be that most people who own it really like it a lot.
That price is great and has even led to some speculation on other forums that maybe NI is blowing out the remaining inventory to make way for Maschine II. I have no idea if there's any truth to that, but it wouldn't surprise me if NI was finding a need to update the hardware to keep up with all the software improvements that it has been making over the last few years. It's almost time for the annual Komplete release, so, who knows, but NI might be planning some sort of Komplete 9 UberUltimate that includes every sample library ever made and an updated Maschine II. :) |

I love Maschine, but it took me quite some time to figure out how to incorporate it into my workflow. Once I figured that out, I was just in love with it. The navigator, and organization of all the samples is quite well done and they are all quality samples. BTW, anyone tried the expansions? I have the earlier 3 (vintage heat, transistor punch, the oldschoolish hip hop one) but haven't tried the newest one which seems quite well geared towards deep house.
Another cool thing to do with it is using it as a MIDI controller which it is quite effective at doing as well. I've found it quite useful as a side midi controller with traktor. |

Honestly, when I got one second hand, I didn't know what to expect in full and when I got it, I realized that the best description of Maschine could be an mc808 at a fraction of the price that just does it a thousand times better and that integrates perfectly with your workflow into any DAW. It just works like hardware, and so far I've never seen it crash here on 2 different machines. It has its own color, its own palette, and it's damn easy to use. I'm not another NI evangelist, but I admit I rely quite much on their hardware and software today. They really have done great things the last years, and Maschine is one of them.
EDIT: oh and it works as a Mackie Control Unit to some extent, which is a big bonus for someone like me. :-) |
