Moving to a new mac without reinstalling stuff

The computer is the same , can i just change the computer ID or do i need to change the serial as well.
Juan Paulino
I think this might work. have you tried putting the mac os install cd in and going to your preferences and go to start up disk and click on the install cd?
Looney4Clooney
I just want my two Mac pros to be actual clones. Like identical. Same software. So I will be just putting the OS drive from one into the other. Other than the serial and harware id , I don't see what could be different. But changing your serial voids the warranty but you can change it back. I know the harware I'd is a simple fix you can via the terminal. I think most au do their validation with the harware Id but I could be wrong.v

cant you clone the disk image using disk utility and save it to another external HD? then import it to the other mac? havent tried but disk utility can do some cool things not possible as easy on a PC.
DJ RANN
Yes, you can do this.

All you need to do is clone the drive - are the two macs completely identical? By that I mean same year, model, spec drives, video card etc? It's not a big deal if not the same though as software update will just install what you need if they are different.

At the studio we use superduper (faster, more options) but disk utility will do it just fine.

I would also use one of you spare drives to create a "perfect state image" - everything installed as you want it - then keep that drive safe. Any time you want to revert you macs back to perfect state, you just clone that perfect state drive on to your current system hard drive.

Device ID's don't matter - that's an EFI/firmware dedicated function.

Let me know if you need any pointers (or advice on serums).

I don't ant to reauthorize anything so there is some uuid spoofing required. Just not sure to what level. You can't just put the same hardrive and expect things to work. Developers are not that dense. Right now, they are the same but just with different auth codes. Basically, I don't want to have to install things twice, and if something ever crashes, I can go right to computer 2 while 1 is getting jimmied. I mean if it works , i will also do this to all my computers.

Also the great thing with osx is that the computers don't have to be the same. Like one is a 8 core 2009, the other is a 2010. The OS has all the extensions for all the models. Same goes for laptops. In fact, I had to do just this in order to get leopard on my 2011 laptop because it won't let you install in directly.

Serums are a waste of money. A basic regiment with good diet exercise ,water and no sun is all you need. My girlfriend spends like 1000 a month on stupid beauty products. Eating your veggies , will do more than a 500 serum. I had this darphin one and stopped because of how gay I had become.

The I lock/syncrosoft thing should not matter as it isn't Id specific as long as you have the licenses and those are doubled.

It all depends on what software you're running to be honest and what they're protection is.

ilok = you're ed, and there's no way around it.

ilok and others use the unique device ID's and you can spoof them, but you might as well just install the crack of that software.

I know some smaller studios that buy licenses for everything then install the cracks for their computers - it means no bull when you have to wipe a machine, just whip out the clone master.

and that's what I was getting at about OSX - it has all the config to work regardless and software update will do the rest.

Darphin? No wonder. Those oldschool brands are full of crap - all of them. Sisley, La Prarie, De La Mer, Guinot, Clarins, Estee Lauder - they're actually some of the worst skincare you can buy. You;re just paying for their advertising agency to hire big names to be their faces. They're literally just chemicals, most of which are carcinogens or industrial additives.

You're totally right about the diet thing though, but you need sunlight exposure (with broad spectrum SPF of course). You can't get enough vitmain D from food alone and that is a dangerous thing - you'll pay for it in the long term.

actually Ilok is fine because you just install the 1 ilok program and the rest is on your key. The actual AUs are the same. Same with synchrosoft. But every other app that uses protection uses some sort of referencing to your computer hardware. SOme you can edit in the plist but again, i'm trying to save time.

I tried it once when i got my new mac pro thinking it would work because of the plist being the same but nothing did. So i think there is more to it. But the more i read, the more i find out that the hardware ID is there on many levels. I just want to know what level i need to change.

The 2010 one is still under warranty and that is the one i want to change so if i do an actual efi hack which is what you do to change the serial, something people do when they replace their logic board so it works with their old stuff, i want it to work because i don't want to something up and then have some sort of trace of the new serial which is my old computer which is not covered and then you explain what you did and then they tell you well , that is not allowed ....

When i say no sunlight, i mean i don't tan or purposefully go in the sun. So just walking to the coffee shop. That is enough sun.

I wish i could get my girlfriend to stop buying into all this . I mean she is ing crazy. Like i think she needs to see a doctor. She now wants to start with surgeries which I am against. Even boob surgery. The only thing i think i would be ok with is botux. I mean she can do what she wants but i won't pay for it, and i will have a slightly lower opinion of anyone that gets that sort of surgery. I mean she looks 19. Its ing ridiculous. She reads all those stupid magazines as well. 10 things your guy doesn't want you to know about type . And then she watches like makeup tutorials by this annoying girl. She talks the feminist talk but then buys into all this bull woman have to be beautiful to be value. For someone so smart, she sure spends way too much time on stupid .

Oh, I thought you ran two mac pros at the same time and wanted to clone them, which is why I was saying you're ed with ilok.

If it's just about copying stuff over from one to the other then as you say there are various layers of device ID's - a lot you can get away with editing the plist but just make sure you block the proxy addresses they check with. In other software, they go so ing deep it's simply not worth it - they collate hardware info and build a device ID from that (like windows does) and without the use of specialist tools, there's no easy way to spoof them, and it probably won't be worth the time.

Lol, nearly, but not quite. The thirteen pages (within the pics of home studio thread) of discussion about body building and supplements was the gayest thing on this forum. I swear it was all code for the two people involved to find brazen man love.
Looney4Clooney
sounds like the work of robby. Supplements are kinda gay. I mean skin is something that will degenerate. Muscles are just pure vanity. Like the sort of muscles one would get only with the help of supplements. I mean skin care is up there with flossing every day. IT serves a purpose.
