| With the passing of Labour of love or Labour of Crap(which is what it should have been called)what club would you guy's rather be in for a big event? Places like the Guv just tell us that we should spend our money elsewhere. We work hard for our money and we deserve to be somewhere where we know our dough is being put to good use. Well, for all of you who were dissapointed with the last event at the guv Iam sorry to hear it but I think we know that a mistake doesn't happen twice. The Demon has spoke.:disbelief |

Well......
If we lived in a perfect world we would live in a city where it was still feasible to hold raves and events in large safe venues like the better living centre at the CNE but unfortuntely the local guvernement has decided that they are too dangerous and drug infested so there has to be a crap load of cops to "oversee it" (we all know thats a load of crap cause any "mainstream" concert has just as much drugs and that goes on). Whcih obviusly become too expensive.
SO as a result the Guvernment IS the best place in Toronto to have large scale events. We all know that it has great sound, lights and a large capacity. However it sad to see that most of the time the crowd sux and that they are more willing to pack the place full of sweaty mofos than create a good vibe.
Other contenders?
Docks - No thanks.
Viva - Good for special night but too far for me personally.
What is needed is competition. Someplace that realizes the potential of a new club dedicated to electronic music with good size and everythig else that us picky clubbers want. Hmmm... Whiskey Saigon is closed down. I wonder if ther new owners are smart enough........... :conf: :conf:

I totally agree with you but I doubt that will happen
if the docks had big events in the summer they would fit a lot of people on the padio, put the system outside and have tons of people come but for winter I dunno, the better living center would be great a big ass hall open to tons of people but the Guverment of Toronto has its rules against that place, so I really don't know where |

The only reason why the police imposed that 'rule' on city property was none other than stereotypes.. yes everyone KNOWS that there's gonna be illicit drug use at a rave but everyone KNOWS that there is gonna be drug use at a concert, guns at Carribana, unsafe sex on Pride weekend, underage drinking at Palazzo, etc..
the only problem is that unlike all these other events, the electronic music scene does not have the political leverage to sway the police into allowing their event. If iDance brought in millions of dollars into Toronto every year from increased tourism and advertising don't you think that the city would be a little more lenient into letting us have more parties of that size? Of course.. in the end it's all about dollars and cents. Unfortunately at this point the Toronto Police would rather see a large massacre happen at Guv when a fire breaks out or someone pulling a gun on a packed night where there is DRUG USE rather than seeing people party safely in a large open area such as the BLC with DRUG USE.
In the end it's the lesser of two evils unfortunately people do not always THINK rationally. |

I see what your saying dEsidEL
to me its like this
if Toronto can make money off it then they got for it,
why not throw something like a love parage as they have it in Germany in Toronto that would make the city some money? |

yea .. i kinda figured that iDance would eventually spill over into a street parade much like Love Parade did as well.. unfortunately it doesn't look as if the city or sponsors really for that matter are giving it a chance anymore. The scene here has definately moved more into the 19+ crowd where alcohol is always a must and of course they won't let people drink out on public streets.. |

as to wat most of you guys said here, your practically right. i think that Guv/Kool Haus is the best deal at this point, but im really getting fed up with them. but oh well, wat can you do? i mean our little chats we have here aren't gonna do jack , coz there's only so only a few of us :eyes: if this was concerned on a larger scale and more people wud be involved, why not make things happen?
for the clubs beside Guv, System is definately a great spot :) the only issue there is the capacity, its a fairly small club & sometimes the sound system there is a bit shaky. i been to the Docks once for State 01 & it was a great experience. the set up was really nicely decorated, venue was perfect. but then again the promoters were Sonic State. |

System Sound Bar
Even the bouncers treat you like humans.... very smoothly run club, no dress code, everyone is very friendly, drinks aren't too expensive, they don't turn the cold water off, high class djs (as well as one of our own TA's in the VIP) World class DJS, Right down town, What else can you ask for, except maybe a little more room to dance and trance...... But if you like house! System kicks ass. And I have read that some think there is a lot of sketch balls..... I happen to think it isnt that bad, not near as bad as GUV. :whip:
Does anyone know if FTWK is still rolling a Tonic??? Its a cool club on Wednesdays. |
