I am new , but i have been trying a while to do this so i will swallow my pride and ask for help.
I am having trouble with this sound that seems simple yet i can't seem to get it.
I've been trying with a single saw wave and sort of get there but not really. It has this guttural type sound where you almost hear the cycles of the waveform yet you still get a pitch that is not so low that you can use it as a bass or something over the bass. I have even sampled the waveform for one cycle to see what it looks like but it is very sine like with a portion of the waveform having a bit of erratic noise.
It has this buzz type quality that i can't seem to finger. I know that there probably alot of fx on top of the original synth but i'm wondering if these are actual FM type sounds. It is almost like there is this sine modulation type oscillation ?
If someone can point me in the right direction. Is it more post processing with simple subtractive stuff. Or is it a massive type wave synthesis thing, or FM ? Any tips would be appreciated.
This is the sort of sound
And a similar type sound in context
thank you in advance. |

just a guess:
a low pitched note with distortion on it. Probably massive. |

| Add white noise, distortion and plenty of um compression. |

| The first example is just a standard sawtooth bass w/sub that has been sidechained/ducked. The second example is similar, but sounds like it is using oscillator sync, maybe a little square osc mixed in, and either some comb or formant filter applied. Either use portamento, or automate some glide to get the pitch up/down in the bass line. |
