Why would they take action? Both sides are terrible. Don't believe the crap about the Rebels being lovely people with rainbows and daisy's everywhere.
Assads people are a minority but a brutal and controlling minority.
The opposition are the majority but a majority with a side that leans too much to the Islam extreme. It is the Muslim Brotherhood after all when you look at it closely.
So who exactly who is good for the rest of the world? The answer is neither. That is why there has been no intervention.
The racial and ethnic divides are very similar to what they were like and still are in Iraq. |

That's because the US alone spends more on military power than the next few countries combined... as a matter of fact, the US spends in just one year what China spends on half a decade and accounts for 41% of all investment in the world. It's only natural other countries wait for the world's military hyperpower before they do something, lest they pick the wrong side of the fight.
Take Germany, as Young-Hee said. It spends on its military roughly as much as India, but way less than China and Russia alone. Should Germany step forward and the US chicken out for whatever reason, it's a recipe for disaster. |

| As far as the US's European allies go, they basically have sluffed off and let the US carry the weight. Its high time the US stop doing that and let Europe pick up more of their own defense. |
