The Future Of An Insomniac Festival...... PRE-RECORDED SETS!!!!

Taken directly off Insomniac Magazine. Pasqual seems to back up what Steve Angello did a while back and it's contemplating pre-recorded sets for their festivals. This is so they can include pyrotechnics, special effects so they can create a "360-degree experience." Hmmm there's gotta be a way around the pre-recorded part.

You can do most of what they are saying with live sets but it requires a very talented team.

In typical American fashion, they are going to it up and make it as cheap as possible, i.e. prerecorded route

not at all surprising.

Cirque du Insomniac hosted by Paris Hilton.

So Tomorrowland and european festivals in general pull it off all the time with production and music. But we have to go with one or the other and in this case saving money by not spending on the artists and focusing more on production to go for a more Burning Man/suckers will pay for anything experience vibe.

Pass.

remember Europe was where the Steve Angello 'prerecorded set' was from last year.

I do know in a more recent interview, Pasquale was slighly backing off on his statement about moving away from booking big names at his parties... paraphrasing he seemed to suggest they should be there but not as intergral to the entire night instead of not there at all.

I do remember both him and Jason Strauss and EDMBiz making the point though, and its kind of hard to argue, that many djs at say EDC play the same times and just fist pump. His hope seems to that people can get to the point where the dj isn't the focal point again (just the music is).

Jason also noted that they had earlier summer some dj that no-one in the 'biz' had heard of headline at Marquee and their sales #s that night were basically as good as when they have a big name spinning.

Thread title needs to be replaced with:
"The Future Of All EDM Festivals...... PRE-RECORDED SETS!!!!"

How can anyone justify paying a producer to stand up front and "DJ" with a computer?
What is the point?
It's like saying that attendees must pay cash for preprinted hard tix cuz it's better than paying with a card over the internet and printing them from home. Or that map points should still be used because they were once a big part of EDM events.

"Here, pay me to stand here and act like I am doing something that I don't need to do cuz technology does it for me!"

And why are CDs even existent any more??

I rather watch a pre-recorded dj, than what that guy was doing in that video.

then they need to stop making those humongous stages. :)

on another note, it seems they still sell out of tickets even before they announce talents.
