Obviously the 90s, because we didn't have threads like this around back then.

I don't have a personal vendetta against you, but I'm just wondering if this thread is sh*t because of the comparison or the content of my opening post? thanks a lot.

2000s, obviously. The 90s never had a song as great as this one:

This thread is because of the content of your opening post. Just like 80% of threads you create.
Now, I'm not saying all my threads are great (in fact, most of them are probably terrible), but you just churn out threads like this one every week.

You should get a blog.
Mattsanity.
^80% of those threads have been requests to post tracks. what can I do but post a link or embed to start it off? you got me with this thread though.

I'm a 90's guy btw. trolling is an art

theres something about the 90s that feels like the finale of the last century, obviously because it was in terms pure mathematics/numbers, but also the way music was made, distributed and listened to. it was the peak of a 30-40-50 year old ride and everything changed in the year 2000, both the actual music itself and how it was distributed and listened to with the introduction of mp3 and mp3 players so that PCs became the center of music source in our homes compared to traditional physical mediums. to me theres a clear distinction to everything pre and post 2000. what is best? of course the earlier music was better made due to the fact that it was not possible to make or distribute good music without great expensive gear and supporting labels meaning that only the best would come out. but on the other side, i really like how it is now that everyone can get their music out there. theres a lot of crap but theres is much bigger room for diversity, plus the fact that good tools are cheaper than ever before meaning that the less fortunate talents can still make awesome stuff, also allowing for niches and underground scenes to grow and die and a higher rate than before. unfortunately im getting older so i cannot keep track of all the new releases but my guess is that there is much more good music available today than pre 2000, however i guess you have to dig A LOT deeper, and avoid whats hot at any cost. before atleast the charts were half decent while now it sounds like ADHD running top10. at least i remember looking through CDs and Vinyls in my local shop in the 90s never really finding anything except one of two CDs a week or month. Now if i sit down and look online I can find 10 great albums in a day if i had the energy for it. I love availability, but of course the number of crappy stuff will also increase when everyone can be a producer today - its about making the right filters now, before it was more about knowing the right labels, thats not the case any more. or when i think about it its actually quite the same as before.... 99% crap.

great post clay pretty much agree 100% especially about the clear divide between pre and post 2000

I do think napster played a major part in it and what we're going through now is the result of some kind of karmic/economic debt we are paying off

all of the safe and formulaic ADHD stuff dominating the charts I suspect is due to no one wanting or being able to afford to take risks, same exact thing happening with cinema. If something is proven to work once why not just do it over and over again

Could also be something much more sinister than that but this is probably the wrong forum to talk about paranoid new world order
