Different types of psytrance

So I was thinking about how people say that certain types of psy trance are very heavily acid or shrooms influenced.

I'd like to see you guys post psy that you think is either influenced by or sounds good or acid/shrooms/e

e.g.

lsd:

Or you know, pretty much any psy track ever

shrooms:
Possibly a bit obvious, but this track pretty much sums up the mood of shrooms sometimes

little less obvious

MDMA:
Haven't done md that much so probably a bit noobish at finding stuff for it.

Huh? As in what psytrance corresponds to what drug? That's a little silly, a majority of psytrance artists aren't catering to a specific style of tripping. I was hoping this thread would be about the different subgenres of psy.

Anyway, check out 1200 mics.

Psytrance is one of the most blatant genres of drug music out there, so I think it's fair to discuss it in terms of drugs.

Now, this is undoubtedly because I don't take psychedelic or hallucinogenic drugs, but I find the majority of psy-trance to be remarkably unpsychedelic, especially the full-on psy so prevalent at parties. The only stuff I would consider to be genuinely trippy is the complicated melodic goa stuff, as you would find on Suntrip Records.

Check Cass & Slide - Opera. I like to listen to this kind of tunes at home but live i'd need some drugs to fully enjoy them.

This kind of deep, atmospheric and progressive-building stuff is the one that would benefit from hallucinogens. The Full on trance stuff is driving enough to be entertaining, if played live, without taking drugs, maybe just a bit of booze.

They are just by the style and structure of whatever they're doing. Hence why I added a "or would sound good on" bit

Yeh I know, but it's not something I've seen in a thread before and I thought someone might have something interesting/some interesting tracks to post

Yes I know of 1200 mics. I might add that with their first album their tracks marijuana, shrooms and lsd tracks are very accurate, although the DMT one doesn't seem very much like dmt at all. Nor does the ecstasy track sound much like e.

Removed "the" from the title, I wouldn't want people to think that's the only way it's categorised

Absolutely, but IMO it's relatively rare that a psytrance artist would cater their sound on a track to a specific drug. I've done psychedelic drugs and listened to different psy styles and I'd say that the experience is largely similar for each drug. Stuff like LSD or mushrooms give you an experience of the sound that is almost alien to you, where your mind is processing the sound in a way you haven't heard before. Weed is weed and doesn't really alter my sound perception. Ecstasy just makes you "feel" the music a little more.

I'm not sure how I'd react to hearing full-on at a big party or show though, I don't think I'd enjoy it as much as listening to it in a more comfortable environment.

Well I've heard full on heaps of times at the local psy trance club and a few times at festivals/100-400 person doofs, and it's bloody awesome. When you get a really big PA system going even just a kick drum sounds amazing, let alone a decent energetic bassline. There's also a lot of energy when you're dancing in a crowd of people so that enhances your enjoyment of the music too. That said, there's plenty of tracks that are both dancey and interesting.

On a related note, one of my best musical experiences ever would definitely have to be hearing the track b.p. empire played up loud. Even though I came half way through hearing that main melody and the bells later on in the track was just awesome.

As for the topic, I disagree with a few things, like for one dubstep for instance would sound totally different on shrooms to acid. On shrooms it just sounds like this totally random but cool/funky stuff with a bassline that feels like it's controlling your life, on acid you'd probably focus heavily on the mood. As for psy, well for instance scratchey sounds in psy sound amazing on acid and pretty cool sober but are sortof meh on shrooms. Hence why djs if they knew what they were doing and knew most people were gonna be on shrooms (cough royal doof). I also found with mdma that I didn't like music that had negative/dark vibes much(that said there isn't much of those in your typical full on), which is one of the reasons why I don't like it that much. That and music with punchy mids was really cool.
