Looking for a quality flanger plugin

Perhaps my knowledge of properly using flangers is getting me here but I've not got very good results with what I've tried so far. I've used Ableton's Flanger as well as Uhbik-F.

I'm looking for something to get close to really long, older trance style flanger effects. At least I think I'm looking for a flanger, sometimes flangers and phasers sound real similar to me.

Check out the first minute of this song for an idea: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evZOVRpcDWo

Thanks for any advice. :)

This is not a Flanger but most mates who created goa in the old days used this one.

A comb filter would be more what you're wanting.

That's not a comb filter, it is either flanging from a flange unit or someone playing with sliders on an old style echo unit which can give this effect.

Phasing and flanging are notoriously difficult to re - create in software, although someone may know of a good flanger, but I've yet to find one.

Comb filter = flanger = delay with really short time. All the same basic principle.

Spectral result is also the same as running through sequential notch filters.

probably the easiest effect after delay to do digitally. So easy that you could do this with automation and 2 versions of the same track. And flanging is exactly a combfilter being swept. THey are all the same in some way but flanging is by definition a comb filter being modulated.

There are so many out there it is really hard to pick one. I'm really digging Melda's stuff so i will suggest their multi-band flanger.

waves meta flanger for being 64 bit
if you have NI8, plenty of guitar effects you can use

The Adam Szabo free phaser which is based on the one in a Virus is pretty tasty.

PC only though.

Put two identical samples in a sampler, with a bit of LFO modulating the pitch on one of them:

Boom, instant "jet" effect. Change LFO speed to control the speed of the sweeps.

;)

And here's a "short delay" demo, made with a single delay sweeping from 1 ms to 7 ms, with the sweep speed gradually slowing down:
