To cube or not to cube?

So I have been reading up on soundproofing and home studio and I am just wondering what the best shape for a home studio room would be and why?

I have read that the furthest shape from a cube is best. Is this to minimize problems such as standing resonant frequencies, comb filters, Flutter echos...etc? Or is it to deal with reflection problems such as room decay?

Thanks mengs

modal frequencies. It is somewhat complicated but I believe chapter 3 of the Handbook for Sound Engineers goes into alot of detail. It is more the kind of information that would interest someone into physics but the info is there.
