I've have always left my computer, monitors, and soundcard on all of the time. Will this do any kind of damage?

id restart the computer from time to time. rest should be fine but id turn it off when on holiday or when theres thunder outside. i actually turn everything off at night and when leaving house. dont want no fire.

I heard a rumor from various computer geeks that the computer will run better if it's on all the time, I think the only damage is to your wallet, because of the electricity bill. Btw do you have an UPS ?
Excess
i be curious as to if this effects monitors, mainly
Altavos
I use a laptop which I move from time to time, and my audiocard turns off while not connected to USB, so then it's no use to have the monitors running anyway :p I don't think it'll do any damage, but I would restart my computer from time to time to prevent it from getting slow.

Nope, just a surge protector.

i would say it might matter if you are constantly doing it as the expansion and retraction might cause wear and tear but once a day , i can't see how the difference would be significant.

Well, if it kept your stuff away from being fried so far, then you shall have nothing to worry about.

irregular power can cause damage and blow capacitors. A surge protector is pretty useless in most modern homes. Get a UPS. You should really just get a global home surge protector. Costs like 300$ with electrician.
