I heard a rumor from various computer geeks that the computer will run better if it's on all the time, I think the only damage is to your wallet, because of the electricity bill. Btw do you have an UPS ? |

I use a laptop which I move from time to time, and my audiocard turns off while not connected to USB, so then it's no use to have the monitors running anyway :p I don't think it'll do any damage, but I would restart my computer from time to time to prevent it from getting slow. |

Nope, just a surge protector. |

i would say it might matter if you are constantly doing it as the expansion and retraction might cause wear and tear but once a day , i can't see how the difference would be significant. |

Well, if it kept your stuff away from being fried so far, then you shall have nothing to worry about. |

irregular power can cause damage and blow capacitors. A surge protector is pretty useless in most modern homes. Get a UPS. You should really just get a global home surge protector. Costs like 300$ with electrician. |
