Thats all I can think of for now.
I have the Sony MDRV-DJ700's. I've had them for about 1yr and 4 months.
I'll give you my opinion based on my experience. Keep in mind that I baby these things and take very well care of them just like the rest of my DJ equipment
1. Sound quality on scale 1-5: 5
They are made for djing, not for audiophiles or for studio monitoring, so they go loud, very loud. They also block outside interference very well. Also, they are very bassy, as they concentrate highly on the lows, which is good in loud environments, as it's easy to keep track of the beats.
2. Durability on scale 1-5: 1
Very dissapointed as the plastic they are made of has cracked on each hinge that holds the ear piece (ear cups), cause they swivel back and forth, but man... for 100 dollar headphones, considering they are DJ, they should be more durable. If you notice, you may see others who also own these have had similar problems with the plastic having stress cracks
3. DO I recommend them? No
For 100 bucks, I would have saved up 60 bucks more and have gotten Senheiser HD25, as I havent heard of any complaints about them falling apart.
I am so dissapointed with the durability. The guy of where I purchased mine sweared they were durable and would last a lifetime. Bull.
As far as other headphones I can't comment, I just suggest you dont go with anything less than the pioneer SE DJ-5000 or the technics RP-DJ1200, but I strongly recommend you invest a bit more and get the Sennheiser HD-25, I've only heard great things about those cans. |

Spend the $100 on a pair of Sennheiser HD-280's, you won't be disapointed. |

The Sony MDR-V###DJ series headphones are worth, meh, much less than even their discounted prices. :p |

Really?! Those headphones are not that great huh?
I actually thought those headphones are durable and pretty good since they are 150 on most places. Honestly I have never spent any more than 65 bucks on a pair anyways.
Maybe I was just attracted to the style and on how it looks rather than reading some infos and opinions on it. I just see Digweed, Tiesto, Sasha, and other High Profile djs use it in pictures. I htink that is why it gave me the impression that this headphone is one of the best
I did hear alotof good about Senheiser.
Uh lets see....... Oh what headphones do those djs use then? Do they use Senheiser? If I don't find any other headphones that are in my price range i might just buy these MDR700 cause I don't think im gonna go ruffhouse on them. When I dj, I usually keep the headphones on most of the time. Not twist and turn them. |

And if that weren't bad enough, you'd have to replace the ENTIRE headband in order to fix those cracks. And Sony charges $40 to $50 just to do that. That's one-third of what most people paid for those headphones - just to fix that crack! AAAAAARRRRGGHHHH!! :p :wtf: |

i own a pair of mdr-v700's AND a pair of sennheiser hd-280 pro's
the senn's are much better than the sony's. in fact, i don't even have the sony's right now 'cause they're at a sony warehouse for repairs :whip: one of the cup swivels cracked bigtime :(
the senn's are much better in every way (except looks)
- they sound a lot better and more balanced
- they have real bass
- they are much more durable
- they isolate outside noise a lot more
- they are SO much more comfortable.. i can wear these babies for HOURS (and have too!) in fact i was spinning all day today so yeah.. 8 hours straight of sennheiser goodness :)
that about sums it up for me... |
