Doesn't surprise me Armin's not on the list as it seems to me as he doesn't seem to play as many gigs as the others...

some of the figures i'd seen published in Pollstar (gross ticket sales) which I think is pretty reliable.

It includes how much they make across all areas, not just DJing. DJing just has to be at least 50% of the income (which somehow makes Mr. Jersey Shore qualify). I am sure between Armin's gig, special gigs, NYE, Armin Only, festivals, and especially his own Armada label (where, as someone saids, means he makes money on every sale across every Armada brand and subbrand), he's making a pretty filthy amount.

I just think that access to financial information of some (or a lot) of DJs is easier to get than others, and the inconsistency of the information they are able to obtain probably makes this list rather inaccurate overall.

i'm sure he does quite well. prob $X,XXX,XXX well. but its conceivable that's still not enough to crack the top 10.

and hey these are guesstimates anyway so i'll be the first to admit who really knows.

I really don't see Afrojack making more than Armin. Armin's label is WAY bigger, he's got the ASOT stages at big festivals, a weekly Ibiza residency (not just him, but his ASOT brand), and plays tons of big festivals. Don't even see him doing many club gigs anymore.

And yeah the big issue is - where would this guy even get that info? He could probably figure out how much Armin gets paid personally for a gig but as far as how much he makes when he does an ASOT stage at Privelege or Global Gathering, who really knows?

So yeah - I don't really trust this list.

Having a big label doesn't mean it sells megaton's of music, especially when trance is the decline.

i posted above where the guy got his figures from. Of course they aren't 100% accurate but they are prob not too far off as well.

If you look at music sales, Afrojack and Skrillex blow away Armin, even accounting for his label. I have no idea how much $ one makes from having a stage at a festival... honestly i doubt its much different from his standard fee. Its probably just a branding thing where they get to have a stage for free as its free advertising for their label/

do u guys know,....or have u seen the booking fees for some of these DJ's? i know for sure Armins is nowhere NEAR some of these guys.......some pretty new talent is asking for more than double what armin is asking for.......

Every booking that Armin, tritonal, Andy Moor, Markus, Aly & Fila, JOC, etc etc etc etc etc get booked, Armin gets a cut of it. Every track they sell he gets a cut.

Anyway, just saying that this article jumped to say who is highest paid without mentioning that they don't have info on all artists, just the ones that would share info.

To be perfectly honest, there is barely any money in digital sales. Any track that is sold gets split between Beatport, the label, and the artist.

In reality, a label might only be making 50 cents off a $2 track. $1 tops if they have a direct deal with Beatport, or $1.50 if they screw the artist and keep all royalties (which happens all the time with big labels).

Most of a DJ's income will come from touring, merchandising, and licensing deals for film and TV. Guys like Tiesto and Deadmau5 have endorsements from huge brands such as Puma and Armani Exchange, so that almost certainly makes up a significant chunk of their income.

my take is that income on this list is only from things they do themselves (djing, endorsements, their own original tracks). Ancillary income such as rev from an agency they own wasn't something they generated themselves so its not meant to be included.

its kind of like when you see a list of the top paid actors.... the list is made up of what they made via movie or tv... not the $ they made from businesses they own or real estate or investments.

And as the others said, he prob didn't make too much via the music sales anyway. A friend of mine had a song track pretty high on Beatport and the other online sites and it was laughable how little $ he saw from it.

Also, I'm sure people like Afrojack and Guetta made a ton more of $ from their music as their songs have charted on the US singles charts.

Guetta was involved with a few of the BEPs biggest tracks and i'm sure made bank off of that.

Doing music for a major motion picture will pay 6-figures and hit 7 for the right person/movie.

I opened my fashion magazine to skim through and this is what I come across.I'm sure deals like this helped Avicii make the list.
