What he is doing is not immoral. You may not agree with the level of compensation with respect to his effort/skill/quality, but that doesn't matter at all.

He provides a service, people way. Its a completely fair exchange.

Exactly. And just because you're talented & work hard doesn't mean the world is going to throw money at you. You have to give them what THEY want, not what YOU want. Also, timing.

agreed, as in this case the world is throwing money at dj's that play other people's music on 2 cdj's.

That's such a stupid thing to say, the whole someone getting paid to play other peoples music. The profession of a dj isn't some new thing, it's been around for a long time and it's entertainment. Should it be done for free or something?

What if a plumber was pulling in 22million a year?

Good for him? Or are the people paying him that ridiculous amount just idiots? Or is it a little of both?

Yes of course good for him. He's a really damn good plumber for people willing to be paid that much. It's not like he's scamming them, people have a choice of plumbers much like DJ's to book. If they want/willing/happily paying a plumber 22 million a year, so what?

Maybe other plumbers should learn instead of hate. Or maybe you can go be a plumber and see how much u make

I don't get the point of arguing of how much someone should make. If overpriced tickets are what people are complaining about, then good for you for not following suit. Let other people deal with it.

But if you compare the average price tickets for what DJs charge for an event and compare that to other concerts for other performers such as bands, the amount of time people spend in venues with DJs is far longer than a 3hr concert at the ACC for example.

So really, if you divide a $100 ticket to see Tiesto for a 5 hour event (yes he may play for 3 hours), the entire concert experience is much more worth it than seeing a Cold Play concert for 3hrs.

Don't hate the player, hate the game.

That is all.

Tiesto plays some of the worst ever these days!

Half the people on this site could drop a better set than Tiesto.

I'll take David Guetta over Tiesto, and I hate Guetta!

I agree with this. However, I will also say, that Tiesto parties have been some of the most fun parties I have ever attended -- music quality has varied greatly though.

I'm sure he knows he was at the top of his game in his Trance days but as an artist he can choose whatever path he wants ...it's not up to us to bitch him out for it (as much as some of us would like his 'old' style to return).
Spin Laden
agreed

it's not only about the music, it's about the brand and Tiesto is a brand. That brand is about lightshows, catchy electro, basslines and massive drops and club girls dancing and enjoying being spotlighted to it all and the guys getting all jacked up to all those elements.

This kind of EDM is about bottles and models, high heels and fist pumps so that's why you're seeing higher ticket prices, as the new wave of clubbers won't blink at the ticket prices and the cost of bs (bottle service) hence these commercial djs getting paid hugely while playing loud noise. As long as the crowd continues to get wasted and still has a job the next day, then these djs will continue to make money.

LOL yeah. Tiesto plays ty music, attracts sold out crowds, and makes a ton of money for himself and his management all year round. Either he's the biggest troll of all time or he likes what he's doing and the formula seems to be working while he's raking in the dough.
