An EDMsnob.com investigation has revealed a scheme in which prominent Electronic Dance Music artists and their management pay large fees to DJ Magazine (known as DJ Mag) in exchange for publishing positive stories about them.

The issue came to our attention during our investigation into allegations of cheating in the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs poll. As a result of that investigation, an insider approached us with financial data revealing many cases in which the UK-based publication accepted large payments in exchange for feature articles about an artist, presenting these articles as news. We were able to match these payments with the resulting articles.

This DJ Mag invoice shows a bill issued to Dutch DJ Ferry Corsten just before September 2011:

the screen shots of the invoices look like they were done by my 6th grade cousin

DJ Mag already responded to this saying the payments were for advertising.
I don't see what the issue is. EDMsnob is a worthless piece of website

the other day he said he had proof that certain artists were cheating votes and he's supposedly going to release that info later this week, but we'll see

It's exactly how the media works.

ya in terms of scandals this is pretty mild. I remember when music reviews would come out before the album was even released. And it was not a matter of it being leaked. The critic just wrote some bull with a certain angle dictated from above and they goofed. Rolling Stone magazine i believe.

uhhhhh i'm pretty sure that music critics, like movie critics, often have access before the general public.

No he is talking about an actual fake review. I forget for who it was too, but it created quite the stir. When he means not released, he meant the reviewer was reviewing an album that wasn't even finished. Payola. It's illegal, but it's still the way it works. You spend money if you want to make it.

And it is really easy to make it on big promo lists these days. It's all bull, all a house of cards, but hey, that's entertainment.
