are you talking strictly EDM ? I was talking about the 80s just in general.

I think you will find that for most eras, the golden period is not necessarily the best but more so the period that influenced the rest. Since classical music is my thing, take say the classical period which included say Haydn to Beethoven. The music is relatively simple and most would say the fireworks happened in the era that followed. But it is easy to dismiss that period because you have the hindsight of knowing what happens after. But for people at the time, they didn't so the way people might appreciate something is different.

I personally can't stand early EDM in terms of my tastes but i can see how hearing this , people would be shocked. I think you have to take your bias into account. When i notice i don't like something, i try to stop listening based on my own tastes and try to situate it in history and judge it compared to what was already done and what about it was unique or novel.

Stuff in the 90s in terms of EDM might be technically better but they had access to more equipment, they had something to build on so it isn't really appropriate to pit the two against each other.
Mattsanity.
I sound iffy because I'm trying to sound critical without crossing the line by getting all neo nazi against the 80's.

Looney4Clooney, I'm not sure what people have against you on this site but I 100% agree with you.

I think even the Pet Shop Boys already was EDM.
One example, which was my favorite on their Introspective album back then:
Pet Shop Boys - Left To My Own Devices (1988)

you were born during the best time (1974 is perfect) and I respect your Pet Shop Boys taste. You were there when it happened, nuff said.

the people that have issue hold a grudge because they have this idea, although i can't completely fault them for it, that i think i'm the best person in the universe. I've said mean things, i've also said nice things and i've said things although satirical in nature maybe doesn't translate. SOme focus only on the negative. I also find that things i say that seem fine to me seem not so fine to others which perhaps is a little bit of the aspergers at work. I am quite nice, and humble and although i feel like i'm trying to be a little more careful in how i speak, people seem to think i still have some lesson to learn. I think that is really the essence of why they do it. It is only annoying when there is no pretext to it or someone else just joining in with thiings like a smile or yeah. Not sure what they get out of it.

I have a grudge simply because he has no clue what he is talking about which is mind boogleing for a Korean.

one of their touring drummers, Dennis Chambers is my fav drummer of all time maybe tied with Buddy Rich. THis is a video from one of his tutorial dvds.
