my 2 cents--
i can understand why tiesto14 made those several threads a few days ago (not the ones from yesterday)... he already said why, it was because he was sick of all the america bashing threads.
i agree with that. in fact, i am very, very close to never posting in TA again (with the exception of the region forums)... because i am really ing sick and tired of every thread either beginning with or turning into america bashing. i get annoyed with having to defend myself while 15 people tell me that im just a stupid ignorant american, or ... OVER AND OVER AND OVER.
tiesto14 already said, he made all those threads the first time to make all of you realize what people like him or me have to deal with every day... all sorts of bull threads.
that being said, i dont condone what he did yesterday. but again, i do understand why he did it before... and while it may have been too far, at least i got the point of it, even if none of you did. |

| there is an ignore option, if you don't like someone, just put them on your ignore list, and then you won't see their posts. |

Surely its not 100% of Europeans on this board that Tiesto14 had a problem with?
I think he should have tried to speak to the people he had the problems with instead of posting multiple threads that were against europeans.
A lot of people on the board that are newer wouldnt have seen the anti-american posts from before and then they see anti-european threads going up.
If it was my first day/week on the board and i seen multiple anti-europe/american/whatever threads being posted then i dont think I would have liked the board very much. |

i would have to use the ignore command on at least half of the active chill room participants to escape all the america bashing.. tho i would still see it in thread names.
no thanks. if it gets to that point, i dont need to post here anymore. |

in my opinion...
t14 has said things in the past that were very childish, immature, or even belligerent - and on several occasions.
but, i also feel like some other people on this board have too been just as bad, or even worse than t14. yet they still remain a member on this board.
those people, the few that i'm talking about in above, are so quick to cast judgements on everyone. they would rather go out of their way to flame someone than just either help out or IGNORE the post eniterly.
i use to like posting topics or messages, but now i don't as much cause of all the negativity.
and i also agree with t14 and sothis about the american bashing. NEWSFLASH, not every american fits the cookie cutter stereotype of an american. in fact in every country, you'll find natives that are like "american" s. |

| I don't wanna comment on what he did but.. Why there is so many threads about his behaviour? He made a few spam for "his cause", that turns him into a "TA celebrity" everyone's discussing if he's right or wrong? I think it's enough... |

Conclusion: Tiesto14 act childishly but at the same time was obviously irritated by the admittedly high amount of anti-american postings. He did to others what he himself tried to fight against--> prejudices. This is pretty stupid and cant be justitfied. However we shouldnt only concentrate on his rampage this the weekend but also look at the reasons which lead to that explosion. With september 11th coming back to the News headlines the forum got more and more filled by threads regarding this topic. Most of them were full of criticism against the US politics AND the American people themselves (yes, some were generalizing ) which eventually lead to a huge split up: USA vs. rest of the world.
Okay I just realized that Im writing this out of boredom without aiming fr some point to make..so am..to make it short: Forgive tiesto14 (think about his other postings as well) and think about your own mistakes , too. (regardless of his beahvior!).

As for America bashing, yes there has been plenty of that going on but at the same time unfortunatly whilst trying to defend his country and the american way (understandable of course) tiesto14 managed to upset a lot of ppl, his downfall was his temper, he was very reactionary (again understandable to a degree) He needed to think about what he was saying b4 he posted, he did make some very intelligent posts but like i said his temper was his downfall and his sheer frustration at the end where he spammed this forum with umpteen random rubbish threads and his last one begging to be banned was just that one step too far.
i do belive that this week will be a bad week for the American's on this forum, not only have they got to contend with dealing with 9/11 over again, their TV must be full of it, bringing up the heartache of it all again but they also got to consider that America is again on the verge of War with Iraq. there will be a lot of threads dealing with 9/11 and one year after after the fight with the taliban and osma some ppl will have widely different veiws on whats happend in the last year.
we are a multinational and multicultural forum here and as long as the debates / arguements dont get to personal bashing and flameing then i see no reason in why intelligent discussion should go ahead about 9/11.

Sorry, no time for people who waste my time.
As far as the 'America bashing' goes, some people just love to hate America I guess.
I don't.
I look at it like this.
The more successful one (or something) is; ie. the higher they are on the success ladder, the more their ass is exposed.
So it shouldn't be a big surprise that everyone likes to pick on the States...
The question is, are the successful that insecure?
They shouldn't be...being humble and a quiet confidence bodes well on anyones shoulders.
T14 reacted like a little school grader, which to be blunt, is sad because he totally underminded his own arguements.
If it wasn't for that, I'd say he could stay.
Blurting something out in a face to face in the heat of the moment is one thing BUT the fact that he took the time to actually create those posts means he was deliberate in his actions.
I think banning would be justified. |
