ProduktWorld Festival Presents Dirty South, Martin Buttrich, Davide Squillace, BT and Lazy Rich at New City Gas.
BT: Given his enviable resume and illustrious fifteen+ year career, it is difficult to imagine that platinum-selling artist, visionary producer, film composer and technologist BT may only now be beginning to create the best work of his career. An internationally-renowned recording artist himself, he is trusted by superstars such as Sting, Britney Spears, Sarah McLachlan, Tori Amos, Madonna, Seal and Peter Gabriel to produce modernist and memorable hits, with a bleeding-edge electronic flair. He has composed unforgettable scores for films The Fast and the Furious, Go, Stealth and Oscar-award winning Monster. With his latest two-hour, double-disk opus, These Hopeful Machines, BT definitively weaves both the technical prowess and compositional mastery that reminds us all why he’s the composer that all other composers and producers study. On his last full-length LP, This Binary Universe, he created an entirely new genre of evocative electro-acoustic music. As Keyboard Magazine wrote in their review of the album, “In a hundred years, it could well be studied as the first major work of the new millennium. It’s that good.”

Dirty South: It has been an amazing ride for the Grammy Nominated DJ/Producer Dirty South aka Dragan Roganovic. Born in Belgrade, Serbia and relocating to Melbourne, Australia when he was 13, kick started his musical journey as he started to get influenced by everything around him. Like many other youngsters starting out in the music biz, Dragan couldn’t afford turntables but he managed to improvise with his old NEC Hi-Fi and started mixing with the tape decks. From here on, Dragan developed further by making bootlegs and mashups. Next step was to get even more serious so a brand new computer, software and keyboards were needed. The first official production was released in 2004 and Dirty South was born.

Davide Squillace: Born in Siena, raised in Naples, it took a trip to London for Davide to finally discover electronic music. Wooed by the mood and sound of the British scene, he returned to Naples flush with energy, excitement and a knowing that this new calling would consume him. Davide immersed himself in this world in every conceivable way. In 1999 he began studying at the Naples’ school of sound engineering, tinkering with his first productions, promoting techno events, and finally performing. His first releases on Primate Records, Design Music and Conform were a cadence of his arrival and showcased the young artist’s steadfast style.

Martin Buttrich: Martin Buttrich is famously as fluent behind a mixing console as in front of a virtual drum kit. That technical prowess, combined with a fascination for music of every shape, has resulted in outstanding releases on influential labels such as Planet E, Four:Twenty, Cocoon, Poker Flat, Nervous and Desolat. He’s also put his sonic thumbprint on many big ticket artists, notably receiving a Grammy nomination for a Tori Amos remix in 2003. Such diverse musical horizons are rare. While other prolific artists may have slowly watered down their music, Buttrich’s star has risen in diametric opposition. His vision has become more and more condensed, more and more crystallised. Flipping and puncturing grooves in a live setting is a snap for him, and he’s entranced audiences at festivals like Time Warp and Creamfields, at temples of boom such as Fabric (London), Womb (Tokyo), Cocoon (Frankfurt), Panorama Bar (Berlin) and Amnesia (Ibiza) and at worldwide Desolat Experience parties with Loco Dice.

Lazy Rich: Don’t let the name fool you as this fast rising electro star is far from lazy – after only 2 years in the studio Lazy Rich has more chart-topping releases under his belt than most artists achieve in their entire career. And he means business; Lazy Rich’s music is played by some of the worlds biggest electronic music artists such as David Guetta, Fatboy Slim, Sander Kleinenberg, Judge Jules and DJ Dan. This UK native now living in Canada, is also the head of his own label “Big Fish Recordings”, and has a plethora of artists across the globe that have assisted in positioning his label as a formidable force in the dance music scene. After achieving a slew of #1’s and Top Tens on both “Beatport” and “TrackItDown”, alongside a number of plays on BBC Radio 1, Lazy Rich has had the opportunity to play sets all over the world, destroying dance floors from Miami to Ibiza.
