OK - so I now understand why Porter and Zedd are so popular....their set is perfect for college kids with ADD! They were all over the place, never let a song develop before changing the track and they were seriously confused about what genre they wanted to play from house to reggae to hip-hop dub. Oh, and ya the opener Nick Thayer - he must play on Roxy's ghetto nights. The whole night I was trying to get into it, but never happened. It was jam packed, as expected.
Now, I am going to rant...Porter and Zedd are douchebags! Ok, so one thing that I do is that I have a collection of baseball card sized photos of DJ's that I get autographed and put into an album. So, after the show I am literally an arms reach away along with some others who want to take pictures with them. They see me several times and finally Porter says that he will not sign anything unless he is compensated. I was like wtf, so I just left. Well, one of my friends who was there who knows a few of us TA's saw this, took the cards/pen from me as I exited the venue. Like 5-10 min later she came out with the autographs! She told Zedd that she was getting autographs for me, but the bouncers were kicking everyone out and he said that he loves seeing motherfu#*ers get thrown out and he would only sign them if he got to sign her . So, she came out with an autograph on her chest and my autographs, lol. In conclusion, Porter and Zedd are d-bags and I will never pay to see them s live again. Its a shame because I had such high hopes for Porter from what I heard from other people.
I took a buddy out to his very first show, I felt bad afterwards...so, on the way home I played Aly & Fila's EDC Vegas set so he could hear a proper set, haha! Thank GOD I am going to see Durand tonight at Gryphon - I need a good dose of TRANCE! |

Sounds about right. I expect this is what the "scene" is like for these young artists. They got where they are because they were in the right place at the right time. If it wasn't for the blatant commercialism that is this "EDM" craze they would be nobodies. Now people can make one hit track and go on tours making millions. Oh well, at least tonight you get to see Richard Durand. I can't wait to see what kind of journey he'll take us on tonight! |
